Light Blue Watches Were Still Hype During Geneva Watch Week 2025

We've often talked about trends and colours, and this one was perhaps the stand-out one for the 2025 Geneva Watch Week!

| By Robin Nooy | 6 min read |

The question during and after a fair week I get asked a lot is, ‘What’s the hottest thing you’ve seen?’ and honestly, answering that question is quite a challenge. There’s so much news that it takes a bit of time to digest it all, even for us on the ‘inside’ of the industry. On day three, for instance, I can barely recall what I saw on day one. One thing that stood out, though, was the continued push for light or ice-blue dials. The colour has been a big hit in recent years, and despite having stepped out of the limelight a little bit last year, it remains a tremendously popular option. During Geneva Watch Week (Watches & Wonders, Time2Watches and so on), we got to see a fair number of very cool ones, from rather simple and affordable to complex and very expensive! Without going overboard on technicalities, here’s a rundown of some of the finest light blue watches we saw!

Czapek Antarctique Tourbillon

We kick things off with one of our favourite watches, now available with a tourbillon movement for the very first time. The Czapek Antarctique Tourbillon, as it’s called, comes with a light blue guilloché dial. The hand-applied pattern is called Singularité and lures you in with its visual “Black Hole” effect, giving it tons of depth and character. The ice-blue tone is just lovely and serves up a nice contrast against all the other visible elements.

Rolex Land-Dweller 127336

The launch of the Land-Dweller by Rolex was the most talked-about release of the fair, which has all to do with the all-new calibre 7135, fitted with the patented Dynapulse escapement, but that’s not the focus here. No, we go straight for the range-topping 127336 with its exclusive pairing of platinum and ice-blue, a tradition for The Crown. The colour always works wonders, and here, it is given a honeycomb pattern and fine satin finish. Lovely!

Grand Seiko spring drive ufa slgb001 “Shinshu Ice Forest”

We stick with platinum and blue for the next one as we take a closer look at the Grand Seiko Spring Drive UFA SLGB001. Not only does this come with an ultra-fine regulated Spring Drive movement, but it showcases – yet again – Grand Seiko’s mastery of dial colours and textures. Inspired by the Shinshu Ice Forest, it resembles the frosted tops of trees near the Shinshu Watch Studio during wintertime and is finished in a striking light blue tone.

Parmigiani Fleurier Toric Perpetual Calendar Morning Blue

Let’s now move to Parmigiani Fleurier and the Toric Perpetual Calendar Morning Blue for very obvious reasons. The Toric in itself is a very stylish and refined offering, but this QP iteration takes it in a new direction. The fine grenage texture is given a light blue-coloured finish, which is not only found on the outer ring for the hour markers but also on the main dial and the sub-dials for the coaxial perpetual calendar indications. Striking, fresh and modern!

Krayon Anyday

The mechanical wonders of Krayon have always stood out for their ingenuity but also for their expressive use of colours and textures. The newest Anyday, which shows you the full month at a glance, continues down that path. The centre dial is finished with the brand’s Y-shaped logo to add character, while the outer ring for the calendar display is given a light blue tone for contrast. The look is subtle and refined, yet very compelling, just the way we like our watches!

Patek Philippe quadruple complication 5308G

Patek Philippe gave us the extraordinary Quadruple Complication 5308G, which pairs a repeater mechanism with a rattrapante monopusher chronograph and perpetual calendar, set in a white gold case. However impressive the movement may be, the dial is equally exquisite and surprising. Not only is the colour new for Patek, but the Maison has boldly combined it with blue markers, frames and hands! Say what you want about the brand, but this shows a refreshing touch of modernity!

We don’t have a detailed story about the 5308G yet, but it will come soon! In the meantime, here’s a link to the 5308P in salmon.

Laurent Ferrier Classic Auto horizon

The Laurent Ferrier Classic Auto is one of the finest dress watches available, and for 2025, it has been given a lovely celestial blue finish and a fitting name: Classic Auto Horizon. The dial has a fine vertical-brushed finish and is decorated with slender hour markers and a dark blue crosshair which wraps around the date window. For a touch of contrast, the railway track on the dial’s periphery is circular brushed, while the recessed sub-dial for the small seconds has a snailed finish.

Hublot Big Bang Unico Water Blue Sapphire

The Big Bang by Hublot is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, and a whole range of models have been introduced, varying in materials, colours and complexity. One of the most striking is the Water Blue Sapphire model of the Big Bang Unico. The translucent light blue coloured full sapphire case reveals the mechanics inside and is paired with a semi-translucent rubber strap, water blue filled hour markers and hands, and so on.

We do not have a link for you to find out more about this specific watch but check this link for previous iterations of the Big Bang Unico by Hublot.

Chopard Alpine Eagle Tourbillon

We’ve always been big fans of the iris-like dial of the Chopard Alpine Eagle, and this year, the brand has released a stunning ice-blue iteration for the Alpine Eagle Tourbillon. Set in a slender 8mm thin Lucent Steel case, the dial has a distinct pattern that radiates from the heart of the flying tourbillon escapement instead of the centre of the dial. The striking Rhône Blue colour is offset with white gold markers and hands, making for a very vivid and lively watch in the light!

Alpina Alpiner Extreme Automatic 39mm

Coming back down to a more sensible level of watchmaking, Alpina joins in on the ice-blue fun with its new Alpiner Extreme Automatic 39mm. The robust four-part stainless steel case welcomes a cool ice-blue dial stamped with the brand’s triangular logo to create a sense of depth and playfulness. Surrounded by a sloped minute ring in the same colour, the Alpiner Extreme Automatic 39mm looks better than ever!

Baltic Scalegraph Tour Auto 2025

Last but certainly not least is the Scalegraph Tour Auto 2025 by Baltic, a compelling and relatively affordable mechanical chronograph dedicated to the Tour Auto rally in France. For the 2025 edition, it gets a mix of colours, with light blue standing out as the main tone on the dial. On the outer section, we see a darker shade of blue, which is matched by a blue bezel insert. There’s yet more blue to be found in the sub-dials and hands, and all in all, it looks rather yummy!

  1. And I noticed that there’s a new version of the Dial-Side-True-Second by Arnold & Son with light blue grainy dial which is quite stunning and looks very pleasing too.

  2. A very nice selection for the very limited few who can afford the best .
