Hublot pulls out all the stops for the 20th-anniversary celebrations of its iconic Big Bang with a one-of-a-kind “Materials & High Complications” set composed of five unique pieces. Flaunting tourbillons, chronographs and minute repeaters – and in one case, a combination of all three – this unique set traces the material innovation and high-end complications that have accompanied the Big Bang and forged its unmistakable personality over the past two decades. A smorgasbord of complexity and radical materials, the five-piece set will set you back a cool CHF 1 million.

Big Bang Tourbillon Automatic Sapphire

The ‘tamest’ model in this wild menagerie of complications, this Big Bang exposes its automatic tourbillon movement from the dial and caseback thanks to its entirely transparent and polished 44mm sapphire crystal case. Fitted with a 22k white gold micro-rotor with a special skeletonised 20th-anniversary execution, the one-minute tourbillon at 6 o’clock and the rotor at noon ensure a constant spectacle. Powered by the HUB6035 manufacture automatic calibre operating at 21,600vph, the movement delivers a 72-hour power reserve.

Big Bang Tourbillon Automatic Red Ceramic

Sharing identical specifications to the abovementioned model, the bright red ceramic case attests to Hublot’s investment in developing high-tech materials and its pioneering role in producing brightly coloured ceramic cases. The red ceramic bezel hosts the signature H-shaped titanium screws, which are picked out in black, matching the lateral bumpers and the black-plated skeletonised micro-rotor.

Big Bang Tourbillon Water Blue Sapphire

As a pioneer of vibrantly coloured sapphire crystal components, this unique piece comes in a watery blue 44mm polished sapphire crystal case and is equipped with a tourbillon and monopusher chronograph. Powered by Hublot’s skeletonised manual-winding movement, the tourbillon is at 6 o’clock, and many of the visible 253 components float in a sea of tropical blue waters. An extremely robust movement, the manual-winding HUB6310 has a power reserve of 115 hours.

Big Bang Integrated Tourbillon Cathedral Minute Repeater

High-performance materials are synonymous with Hublot, and this tourbillon, combined with a cathedral minute repeater, comes in a 43mm carbon fibre case with a protective Texalium coating. A fibreglass-based fabric with a thin layer of aluminium on the surface, the deep blue Texalium makes the case, the bezel and the integrated bracelet practically immune to scratches. Visible on both sides of the case is the HUB8001 manufacture manual-winding movement with a 72-hour power reserve.

Scaling the ladder of complications, we reach the apex with this hyper-complicated, unique piece. Decked out in frosted and mottled carbon fibre, this 45mm behemoth with a thickness of 16.8mm is equipped with a formidably complex manual-winding movement with a tourbillon, a monopusher chronograph and a minute repeater with cathedral gongs.
