The New, Ice Blue Laurent Ferrier Classic Auto Horizon
A gorgeous celestial blue dial for the Classic powered by a more robust engine.

Laurent Ferrier’s watches have been seducing watch collectors since 2010. The epitome of elegance and minimalism, his Classic collection combines the smooth, sleek lines of his pebble-shaped case with beautiful mechanics. Last year, Laurent Ferrier presented the Classic Auto Sandstone, a fusion of the Classic/Galet case with a more robust engine inside the Sport Auto and its distinctive date window. Following in the tracks of the Classic Auto with a copper-toned dial, Laurent Ferrier proposes a new light blue dial model: the Classic Auto Horizon.
The good news for fans of the brand is that the latest model is not a Série Atelier limited edition like the inaugural Classic Auto Sandstone and will join the permanent collection. Also influenced by LF’s Classic case with smooth pebble-shaped contours, the Classic Auto Horizon comes in a 40mm stainless steel case with a thickness of 11.94mm. Inspired by the round cases of 19th-century pocket watches, the case and the ball-shaped crown are polished.
The novelty here is the gorgeous vertically brushed horizon blue dial with a satin-brushed railway track on the periphery and a recessed and snailed small seconds at 6 o’clock. The aethereal celestial blue colour is produced with a fine layer of translucent blue lacquer applied to a base with a silver galvanic coating. Other signature details like the white gold Assegai hour and minute hands and the elongated drop-shaped indices reveal the hand of their maker. The distinctive feature of the Classic Auto is the date window with its gentle sloping ramp, a device designed to draw the eye to the indication.
The calibre LF270.01, introduced with the Sport Auto, is a more robust version of the brand’s famous micro-rotor architecture with a classic Swiss lever escapement. The platinum micro-rotor is placed between the mainplate and the rotor bridge to improve stability and winding power. When fully wound, the movement offers a 72-hour power reserve. New to this model, the platinum rotor is hand-engraved with a motif evoking a bird’s feathers, a nod to the beak-shaped automatic bridge. Finished to LF’s high standards, the movement can be admired through the sapphire caseback.
The taupe strap is hand-stitched goat leather and comes with a stainless steel pin buckle. The Classic Auto Horizon retails for CHF 45,000 (excl. tax).
