Last week we showed you a selection of watches where the combined efforts of two brands, labels or institutes come together and elevate a single product to a higher level. While the six watches that were chosen are among the best collaboration projects in the industry in recent months, they’re far from the only ones, of course. So for this week, we thought it would be good to dig a little deeper, and showcase some more watches where worlds collide. And again, it’s the combined effort to raise the stakes that gets us excited for each and every one! With that in mind, here are five more watches that bring out the best in both!

Ulysse Nardin x Urwerk Ur-Freak

Perhaps the best-fitting collaboration watch from last year was the UR-Freak, where two iconic names join up for something that feels extremely natural and coherent. The UR-Freak bridges the iconic flying carousel mechanism of Ulysse Nardin’s groundbreaking Freak with the signature satellite hour display of Urwerk, in a watch that looks just out-of-this-world cool. Even the case design is a combination of both UN and Urwerk. This statement to the innovating spirit of both brands is limited to 100 pieces, comes on a yellow ballistic-textured rubber strap with a titanium deployant buckle, and retails for CHF 100,000 excl. VAT.

Tudor Black Bay Chrono Carbon 26

Tudor has partnered with the Visa Cash App Racing Bulls F1 Team for the third year running, and has recently launched its third special edition watch. Inspired by the VCARB 03 racing car for this season, the new Black Bay Chrono Carbon 26 adopts a “Racing White” dial with black, yellow and red accents for a very striking look. As its name suggests, the case is in carbon, keeping things nice and light. Power comes from the Calibre MT5813 automatic chronograph, with 70 hours of energy in the “tank”. Strapped to a hybrid-leather strap with a pin buckle, it’s limited to 2,026 pieces to tie it to this year’s season, and retails for EUR 7,980.

Tissot Pinarello special edition

It’s not often we see carbon fibre as a base material in Tissot’s watchmaking portfolio, but when we do, it’s for something special. Following the Sideral and the PRX in carbon, this Pinarello Special Edition ties neatly into Tissot’s storied cycling activities. And for good reason, as it’s made with high-end racing bicycle specialists Pinarello. The forged carbon case is fitted with an “asphalt” grey dial with a blue central seconds hand, and power coming from the now-famous Powermatic 80 calibre. It comes on an integrated black rubber strap with a pin buckle, plus one more strap in the box, and retails for a rather sensible CHF 1,355.

Omega Seamaster Diver 300M chronograph 007 First Light

A collaboration of a different kind, but no less cool than the others, comes from Omega. The Seamaster Diver 300M Chronograph 007 First Light connects Omega’s watchmaking with the digital world of video games, as it prominently features in the 007 First Light game, and is developed in partnership with IO Interactive and Amazon MGM Studios. James Bond and Omega are no strangers, of course, but this is the first time a chronograph has been used. It comes with a bronze PVD “Goldeneye” subcounter for the chronograph hours, a black ceramic wave dial, a ceramic bezel insert, a Bond-coloured NATO-style strap and Omega’s in-house Calibre 9900. It’s not limited, and retails for CHF 7,300. Just don’t expect it to shoot lasers or hack computers as it does in the game.

Ressence Type 3 Marc Newson

A Ressence watch is already an object of disruptive design by itself, but not too long ago, the Belgian watchmaker partnered with design icon Marc Newson (known for the Apple Watch, Ikepod and so on) for a special version of the Type 3. Newson took the design of the oil-filled Type 3 and ran with it in his signature style. Soft curves all over, clean contrasts and colourful highlights. The main concept has remained untouched, with the ever-revolving display of time in grey, black and yellow. The back of the perfectly pebble-shaped case is reserved for winding and setting as ever. Only 80 will be made, at a price of CHF 46,000.
