In the fast-paced, ultra-competitive world of Formula 1, few things are certain. One element that you can certainly be sure of, though, is the fact that there will always be a next race, a next Grand Prix, a next clash of superstar drivers. And in a sport where a win or loss can come down to the thousandths of a second, timing instruments are never far away, and thus, F1-themed special and limited editions are a relatively sure thing as well. In honour of this year’s upcoming Singapore Grand Prix, held on October 11th, IWC drop its latest and perhaps boldest F1-themed watch yet. Dressed in a vibrant purple and finished with the now-famous PETRONAS green, this is the IWC Pilot’s Watch Chronograph 41 Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team.

It’s far from the first time IWC has released a watch dedicated to Formula 1, as its partnership with the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula 1 Team spans well over a decade, and its ties to Mercedes-Benz as a car manufacturer go back even further. However, an official team watch is something we don’t see too often, as usually the brand’s special editions are tied to the drivers. In fact, the very first official team watch in the collection was this 2022 Pilot’s Watch Chronograph 41 Edition “Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team”.

For the 2026 Singapore Grand Prix, IWC goes bold, as the grade 5 titanium case measuring the familiar 41mm in diameter and 14.5mm in height gets decked out with a vibrant purple dial. And on top of that, you get a sunburst finish and tracks and markers in PETRONAS green, a colour also found on the F1 cars. Furthermore, the blacked-out hands have Super-LumiNova inserts in the same tone, and the subdials are recessed and given a snailed finish. On the right, the double day-date window is framed and reveals a black disc with again the teal-green tone for the digits.

Inside, we find IWC’s proprietary Calibre 69385, an automatic movement that runs at a rate of 28,800vph and has a power reserve of 46 hours. It can be seen through the sapphire crystal caseback and is finished with circular Côtes de Genève, polished screws, an openworked rotor with circular graining on the top surface, and a PETRONAS green printed text on the underside of the glass reminding you of the Mercedes-AMG Formula 1 connection.

IWC puts the Pilot’s Watch 41 Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team on an equally vibrant purple rubber strap, fitted with a titanium pin buckle, although you could easily swap it out for something else thanks to the EasX Change system. It is not limited by number, and the price is set at CHF 7,700.
