Founded in 1993 by the 11th Duke of Richmond, the Goodwood Festival of Speed has grown into one of motorsport’s most iconic celebrations. In 2025, TAG Heuer returned as Official Timing Partner of the event and will do so again this year, for the 2026 edition (July 9th – July 12th). The brand will be present with a unique pop-up experience devoted to its history in motorsport, including a showcase of the emblematic Porsche 917 car, as driven by Steve McQueen in the 1971 film Le Mans. And there will be watches too, including the one you’ll discover now, a new take on the classic Monaco Chronograph, dressed in the most obvious of colours, British Racing Green.

With the F1 connection being on everyone’s lips recently at TAG Heuer, the watches have followed suit, becoming more modern, more technical, more advanced and bolder in style. The Monaco, a classic of the brand, has been infused with this spirit, and the introduction of the Monaco Flyback Chronograph TH-Carbonspring, several Split Seconds models or the recent Evergraph. But that would not be the best match for an event like the Goodwood Festival of Speed… So, TAG Heuer is giving its classic Monaco Chronograph a more vintage style – and it surely looks good.

While I’d have appreciated the use of the new “Steve McQueen” Monaco as a base, with its crown at 9 o’clock, TAG Heuer here relies on the more conservative version of its squared automatic chronograph with a crown at 3 o’clock. Made of steel, it retains all attributes of the watch, with a 39mm width, 15mm thickness and 47mm lug-to-lug. The watch is equipped with a bevelled sapphire crystal on top, a sapphire caseback and is water-resistant to 100m.

What makes this Monaco Chronograph x Goodwood Festival of Speed 2026 special is the dial, which is treated in colours that would look perfect on a vintage car… or an elegant British gentleman’s suit. The base of the dial is British Racing Green lacquered, with a sunray-brushed effect. For contrast, the sub-dials and the circular minute ring are rendered in beige. Several details give this version a racing-oriented look, such as the checkered flag on the tip of the seconds hand, the red colour of the sub-dial hands or the red marking at 39 seconds, a nod to the Festival’s current Hillclimb record held by the McMurtry Spéirling piloted by Max Chilton in 2022.

Inside the case is the brand’s own Calibre TH20-00, a modern automatic, integrated chronograph with column wheel and vertical clutch. Beating at 28,800 vibrations/hour and storing 80 hours of power reserve, the movement is visible under a sapphire back with Goodwood FOS’ logo.

Worn on a cool, vintage-styled brown perforated leather strap, the TAG Heuer Monaco Chronograph x Goodwood Festival of Speed 2026 is limited to 71 pieces, available from the brand’s booth at the Festival. It is priced at GBP 7,750. For more details, please visit www.tagheuer.com.
