TAG Heuer keeps strengthening its links with motorsport and the history of racing… Among other initiatives, LVMH and TAG Heuer just signed a major deal with Formula 1, and the brand has just become the first title partner of the Monaco Grand Prix, which is now the Formula 1 TAG Heuer Grand Prix de Monaco. With such announcements, new iterations of the brand’s emblematic square Chronograph were to be expected, specifically on the occasion of the race weekend in Monaco. And while we have just covered the cool white dial Gulf limited edition, there is more… In particular, this new TAG Heuer Monaco Chronograph Stopwatch, which cues from vintage racing instruments by Heuer.

As its name suggests, the TAG Heuer Monaco Chronograph Stopwatch injects design codes of one of the brand’s stopwatches into the Monaco, drawing a connection to an era when Heuer stopwatches were the trusted tools in the heat of competition. More precisely, the inspiration comes from the references 11.401 or 11.402 and their black circular layout set against an opaline silver background, with red touches reinforcing their sporty character.

The TAG Heuer Monaco Chronograph Stopwatch limited edition comes in a lightweight, resistant black DLC-titanium case that offers a sporty, modern take on the concept. The dial draws direct inspiration from the above-mentioned Heuer’s stopwatches. Their black and silver opaline finish is accented with striking red details. Inside is the automatic calibre 11. This modular chronograph is based on a Sellita SW300 with a Dubois Dépraz module. It runs at 28,800vph, and its power reserve is 42 hours. Many of the recent Monaco models come with a crown at 3 o’clock and the in-house Heuer 02 calibre. If their movement certainly has a higher pedigree, some enthusiasts will argue that the design is most authentic with the crown at 9 o’clock.

The TAG Heuer Monaco Chronograph Stopwatch is worn on a black perforated calfskin strap secured by a sandblasted black DLC grade-2 titanium folding clasp. The watch is released in a limited edition of 970 pieces (a reference to the 1970s). Price is set at CHF 9,600.
