As undoubtedly one of the most popular categories of watches, a good dive watch is a mainstay in anyone’s collection, whether you own one, ten or a hundred watches. Most of them will never be pushed to the limits of their construction, but that’s besides the point. There’s something soothing in wearing a watch that can withstand pretty much anything, and doesn’t mind being knocked about a bit. The result of this rock-solid popularity is a ton of new models launched each year, making it hard to stay up to date on what’s what. To help you out a bit, we’ve listed six recently introduced dive watches that take you to great depths, and have you looking good while doing so.

Certina DS Super PH2000M

The DS Super PH2000M takes Certina to new depths, as it’s a formidable 2,000m water-resistant dive watch. And it comes with excellent specs and a great look across the collection. The case is in grade 2 titanium to keep things a touch light despite the 43mm diameter and 16mm height. Aside from the Sea Turtle Conservancy edition, it also comes in black, yellow-and-black or white-and-blue. The rock-solid diver has a clearly legible dial, oversized minute hand, and the Powermatic 80 automatic. And best of all, you get both a rubber or textile strap and a titanium multi-link bracelet, for a very reasonable price of EUR 1,395.

Tudor Black Bay Ceramic

It may take its design codes from past Tudor dive watches, but the latest Black Bay Ceramic is very much anchored in the now. While it isn’t the first ceramic Black Bay, it’s the first time Tudor has created a full ceramic watch, bracelet included. To enhance the matte, stealthy vibe, it’s fitted with a charcoal dial that shifts a little from black to grey. Inside, it’s the in-house MT5602-U working diligently, which is, of course, METAS Master Chronometer certified. As mentioned, the three-link ceramic bracelet is entirely new. It’s part of the permanent collection, and retails for EUR 7,040, making it one of the most attainable full-ceramic watches in the industry.

Grand Seiko Spring Drive UFA Ushio 300 Diver

It’s been a long time coming, but with the new Spring Drive UFA Ushio 300 Diver, Grand Seiko finally made a more compact dive watch. But it’s not just about a reduction in size, but also about the dial, and even more so about its movement. Available in blue or green, the new Ushio 300 Divers look excellent all around. The high-intensity titanium case measures a reasonable 40.8mm by 12.9mm, and inside beats the calibre 9RB1, an automatic Spring Drive hybrid regulated to Ultra Fine Accuracy levels (± 20 seconds per year!). The bracelet is also excellent, with a multi-adjustable folding clasp. The price is set at EUR 12,500 incl. VAT.

Tissot Seastar

Another star diver from the Swatch Group ranks is the Tissot Seastar 2000 Professional 44mm Powermatic 80. While it’s still a sizeable watch, with a diameter of 44mm, it’s actually a step down in size for the collection. Available in steel or with an optional black coating, it can safely go down to 600 meters thanks to its screw-down crown and helium escape valve. For the dial, you have a choice of Stormy Grey, Deep Blue or Bright Orange with luminous markers and hands all around. It uses the Powermatic 80 automatic, comes on a steel bracelet (Stormy Grey dial only) or a Tropic-style rubber strap, and retails between EUR 995 and EUR 1,025.

Doxa sub 200 T.Graph II

If you’re looking to do a bit more with your dive watch than, well, diving, the Doxa SUB 200 T.Graph II is a suitable candidate. Other than being an iconic-looking dive watch capable of dives down to 200 meters, it’s slightly smaller than its predecessor and packs a chronograph function as well. The double-signed bezel and oversized minute hand are in place, of course, yet the dial is enlivened with two subdials. For now, the collection is limited to four colours (orange, silver, black and blue) but that might change in the future. Power comes from a Sellita SW510, and it’s fitted to a beads-of-rice bracelet or Tropic-style rubber strap. Prices start at EUR 3,950.

Longines HydroConquest 300M Diver

Completing the list is Longines’ updated HydroConquest 300M Diver, a robust, good-looking and somewhat sensibly priced dive watch in either 39mm or 42mm sizes. Dial-wise, you have the classic options of black and deep blue, but also green or ice-blue if you want. The bezel changes colour between references too, and it can be worn on a three-link steel bracelet or a Milanaise one, both fitted to a micro-adjustable folding clasp. Inside, you get the same calibre L888 automatic as its Legend Diver sibling (albeit with a date), and it retails for EUR 2,200 or EUR 2,300, depending on the type of bracelet. Not too shabby!
