Since its launch in 2021, the Seastar 2000 Professional has occupied an interesting spot in Tissot’s catalogue. For around EUR 1,000, it delivers a specification sheet that normally comes with more expensive dive watches: a helium escape valve, a ceramic insert bezel, 600m water-resistance, ISO 6425 certification, and a robust Swiss movement. In short, this is not a dive-style watch pretending to be the real thing, but a genuine professional diver that also happens to offer remarkable value for money. Now, Tissot is introducing five new references. Their fresh colours grab most of the attention, but a closer look reveals a couple of other changes, including a slightly smaller case and a revised bracelet clasp.

The Seastar 2000 Professional now comes in a 44mm case, down from the 46mm diameter of previous models. Two millimetres might not sound like much, but on a feature-packed dive watch, it really can make a difference on the wrist. Yet, Tissot did not use this reduction in size as an excuse to dial back the specifications. The watch remains ISO 6425-compliant, is water-resistant to 600m (2,000 feet), and is fitted with a helium escape valve at 9 o’clock.

The steel case comes with alternating brushed and polished surfaces, a screw-down crown protected by guards, and a see-through caseback. There are also two black-coated steel versions. Measuring 44mm in diameter and 15.29mm thick (vs. 16.25mm on the previous version), it is still a substantial watch. Surrounding the dial is a steel unidirectional bezel fitted with a ceramic insert and engraved 60-minute scale.

Beyond the smaller case, most of the visual changes come through the new colourways. The new models are offered in deep blue, bright orange, and stormy grey. While the deep blue versions are paired with a matching blue bezel, the stormy grey models receive a black insert. The bright orange version also opts for a black bezel, creating a stronger contrast and sportier appearance.

While Seastar dials have appeared in black, blue, green, and white before, a vibrant orange dial is a bold addition to the collection. It also brings to mind the Seastar Wilson WNBA Powermatic 80, which already played with orange accents. You will also notice the engraved wave-pattern dial is still here, showing large luminous hands and indexes that have become a hallmark of the Seastar family.

Tissot has equipped the new Seastar 2000 Professional with a new diver clasp featuring a security lock and push-button extension. A small revision, but it should make the bracelet easier to adjust and more convenient to use overall. You also get Tissot’s interchangeable strap system to switch between the steel bracelet and rubber strap depending on where the watch is heading next.

Performance is also impressive, as the new Seastar 2000 Professional watches are powered by the Powermatic 80 movement, featuring a Nivachron balance spring, which is Swatch Group’s revised and robust ETA 2824-2 automatic movement. Running at 21,600 vibrations/hour and offering up to 80 hours of power reserve, it remains one of the reasons the Seastar 2000 Professional continues to stand out in this segment.

Available immediately as part of the permanent collection, the new, smaller generation of Tissot Seastar 2000 Professional is priced at EUR 975 for the blue and orange versions on a rubber strap, EUR 995 for the stormy grey model on a steel bracelet and EUR 1,025 for the two black-coated versions. Still a great value proposition and a great companion for your upcoming summer dives.
