Racing Meets Watchmaking with the 2025 Formula 1 Team Watches
Grilling the F1 Grid, watchmaking style!

If you’re like me, passionate about watches and Formula 1, I’m pretty sure you’re eyeballing the wrists of drivers, team principals and mechanics to see what they’re wearing. Some of them have a strong reputation for their wrist game, such as Lewis Hamilton and Toto Wolff. And since there has been an almost complete reshuffle for official timing partners, both for the sport as a whole and individual teams, it’s time to look at some of the coolest and most recent special edition watches to be spotted on the grid. From regulars like IWC, we also see more recent entries such as Tudor and H. Moser & Cie. So it’s “Lights out, and away we go!!” for this week’s Buying Guide!
TAG Heuer Formula 1 Oracle Red Bull Racing Edition
Even before the 2025 Formula 1 season settled down for the opening race in Australia, TAG Heuer released the completely renewed F1 collection. This included a special Oracle Red Bull Racing Edition, in grade 2 titanium. The shaped case houses an RBR blue dial with a checkerboard pattern and a tricompax layout. Further details include a carbon insert for the fixed tachymeter bezel, shaped chronograph pushers, and red, yellow and white accents all around. Underneath the solid caseback is TAG Heuer’s Calibre 16 (Sellita SW-510 base) automatic chronograph. Worn on a blue rubber strap with a titanium pin buckle, this one retails for CHF 5,300.

Tudor Black Bay Chrono Carbon 25
In its second year as the timing partner for the Visa Cash App Racing Bulls team, Tudor gives us the Black Bay Chrono Carbon 25. This rather lightweight iteration of its formidable bicompax chronograph comes with a few very interesting details. It starts with a full carbon fibre case, including end-links for the strap connection. The material is also found in the chronograph subdials on the eye-catching white & blue dial, as well as the frame for the date. Power, as per usual, comes from Tudor’s Calibre MT5813 (Breitling B01 base). The very comfortable hybrid leather-rubber strap is fitted with a carbon fibre pin buckle. H. Moser & Cie Streamliner Alpine Drivers Edition
H. Moser & Cie pulled off quite the surprise move early last year, as it announced a partnership with the BWT Alpine F1 Team. Working closely with the team, the next chapter in terms of watchmaking is the Streamliner Alpine Drivers Edition. Using the Streamliner Chronograph as a start, this one pulls back all the covers on the HMC700 automatic integrated chronograph movement (made with Agenhor, owned by H. Moser & Cie). The result is staggering, as we finally see the rotor normally sandwiched between the dial and movement! The case is finished in blue PVD, and it’s fitted to a white rubber strap. Only 200 will be made, at a price that’s yet to be confirmed. Next to that, there’s also a connected limited Mechanics Edition with some clever features, which is also included in a set of two watches.

IWC Schaffhausen pilots’ watch chronograph apxgp
While it’s not officially tied to any one of the teams on the 2025 grid, the IWC Pilots Watch Chronograph APXGP is, of course, not to be overlooked. As partners for the upcoming blockbuster movie simply called ‘F1‘, with Brad Pitt and Damson Idris as lead actors and Lewis Hamilton as consultant, it was inevitable that IWC would get serious with some watches. The new Pilots Watch Chronograph APXGP comes with a black & gold dial as inspired by the ‘team’ colours from the APXGP car, set in a 43mm wide steel case. The tinted back crystal is also signed ‘APXGP’ in gold, to tie in with the rest. It comes with a black rubber strap, IWC’s 69385 automatic, and a sticker price of EUR 8,100. Alternatively, there’s also a Pilots Watch Chronograph 41 APXGP available for EUR 7,900.
