The New Girard-Perregaux Laureato Absolute Aston Martin F1 Edition
Vying for pole position, a sporty Laureato Absolute with iconic AM British Racing Green accents.

Luxury sports watches and the thrilling world of F1 races are natural allies. Girard-Perregaux got a head start with its automotive ties in the 1930s, producing pocket watches for Shell. In 2021, Girard-Perregaux joined forces with the reputed British performance car manufacturer Aston Martin, leading to a series of double-branded watches. With two anniversaries on the horizon – the 75th anniversary of Formula 1 and the 50th anniversary of the Laureato – GP presents the Laureato Absolute Aston Martin F1 Edition with a British Racing Green dial and a GP engine.
Introduced in 1975, the Laureato was Girard-Perregaux’s luxury sports watch with a fully integrated bracelet, a round dial, an octagonal bezel, a tonneau-shaped case and a quartz movement. Produced three years after the Royal Oak but well before the Nautilus, the Laureato resurfaced in 2016 with limited editions followed by serial production models in 2017. The Laureato Absolute sub-line, released in 2019, is a bolder and sportier iteration of the Laureato in a 44mm case.
Following the 2021 Tourbillon with Three Flying Bridges, the first piece celebrating the partnership, and several Laureato Aston Martin Editions with AM green dials and materials associated with F1, the latest Laureato Absolute comes in a 44mm titanium case with a thickness of 14.65mm.
The lightweight yet resilient Laureato Absolute case looks sleek and sporty with its matte sandblasted finish. The octagonal screw-down crown with a green ring ensures the impressive 300m water-resistance of the case.
The thick case translates into a deep dial with a sloping minutes flange and inserted luminescent indices. Aston Martin’s Racing Green colour is used for the dial, and the partially openworked hands are inspired by the front grille found on Aston Martin cars like the DB12. Like Aston Martin’s F1 car, there are lime green accents on the tip of the hour and minute hands, along the length of the central seconds hand, the date window frame and the depth rating of 985ft / 300m.
Hidden beneath the screwed caseback engraved with Aston Martin’s winged logo is the automatic GP03300 movement with a frequency of 28,800vph and a 46-hour power reserve for the time and date functions. A green FKM rubber strap with a fabric effect and a titanium folding clasp with micro-adjustment highlight the sporty character of the watch.
The Girard-Perregaux Laureato Absolute Aston Martin F1 Edition is limited to 88 pieces. It goes on sale as of today (20 March 2025) and will be available worldwide. It retails for CHF 13,700 (incl. tax) or CHF 12,670 (excl. tax). More information at girard-perregaux.com.

Girard Perregaux looks as though it has lost its way. The style and elegance seems to have disappeared and what’s taken its place looks ugly. I used to equate them as a poor man’s Patek Philippe. And added to that, they have put a price tag on it that should surely dissuade anyone in their right mind to even consider this monstrosity! Boy, have they lost their way under the new ownership. What a disappointment.
