American Indie Watchmaker RGM Launches the Model 151 Snoopy Flying Ace

RGM Watch Company has never been a brand to chase trends or pop culture. Founded in 1992 by Roland G. Murphy in Pennsylvania, the brand has built its reputation on traditional watchmaking, producing around 400 watches annually while preserving crafts such as engine turning, movement decoration, and even in-house calibre production. Its latest release, however, surprises and introduces a lighter touch. The new Model 151 Snoopy Flying Ace is an aviation-inspired watch with one of popular culture’s most enduring characters, offering a grand feu enamel edition and a more accessible painted dial version.

The watch is based on the Model 151 platform, a clean pilot-style design defined by its thin bezel and generous dial space. The stainless steel or CP2 titanium case measures 38.5mm in diameter, with a thickness of 9.9mm for the painted dial and 10.6mm for the enamel model. Produced in the United States near RGM’s Mount Joy workshop and hand-finished in-house, the case retains restrained proportions and curved lugs that promise comfortable wear. Water resistance is rated at 50m.

The two-level white grand feu enamel dial is created through multiple layers of enamel applied and fired at high temperatures. RGM believes this to be the first depiction of Snoopy’s famous Flying Ace character executed on a true grand feu enamel dial. The artwork shows Snoopy wearing his flying goggles while sitting atop his red doghouse, with a few clouds to complete the scene. Large Arabic numerals and luminous sword hands ensure that the whimsical illustration does not conflict with legibility.

For those looking for a more accessible version, RGM also offers the watch with a matte light-blue metal dial featuring the same Snoopy artwork. While it lacks the artisanal complexity of enamel, it preserves the playful character of the design at a lower price point.

Both versions are powered by the Sellita SW300-1 automatic movement (ETA 2892-A2 alternative). It operates at 28,800 vibrations/hour and delivers approximately 52 hours of power reserve. The movement receives decorative finishing, including rhodium plating, Côtes de Genève and perlage, before being fitted inside the case.

The watch is worn on a Hirsch Performance strap combining leather with a rubber lining. Prices start at USD 3,950 for a steel model with a printed dial and go up to USD 9,950 for a titanium version featuring a grand feu enamel dial. For more details, visit rgmwatches.com.
