The Refined Flair of the Parmigiani Fleurier Toric Perpetual Calendar
Elegance, refinement, discreet audacity... The Toric Perpetual Calendar is a watch with great visual and mechanical flair.
Last year, Parmigiani Fleurier revived the fabled Toric, the first watch released by Michel Parmigiani after launching his eponymous watchmaking company in 1996. Met with great enthusiasm, the new Toric collection embodied everything the original Toric was known for, with the addition of the appealing sartorial touch Terreni is known for. The latest addition to the range is the ultra-refined and superbly elegant Toric Perpetual Calendar. We’ve travelled to Fleurier, Switzerland, to sit down with Guido Terreni, CEO for Parmigiani Fleurier, and talk about this stellar new watch. We learn about the philosophy behind the restrained look, its movement construction, simplified display, and more.
Reintroduced last year, the Toric returned as a sophisticated dress watch with its Small Seconds model and a Chronographe Rattrapante. In line with Terreni’s vision for the collection, the Toric is only available in precious platinum or gold cases with manual-winding gold movements, gold dials, gold hands and indices. This year’s Toric Perpetual Calendar retains all the great ingredients of the inaugural models, adding complexity to the movement while maintaining an impressive touch of discretion regarding the display. Featuring the Toric’s signature knurled bezel, the minimalist display of the calendar functions lends the dial an elegant, balanced presence. With no busy sub-dials flashing information, the coaxial arrangement of the counters at 4 and 8 o’clock, combined with the restraint shown in branding and inscriptions, gives the dial ample breathing space.
The back of the Toric Perpetual Calendar is not something you want to hide, either. Thanks to geometric gold bridges with their distinctive Côte de Fleurier finish, as well as the sandblasted gold mainplate, this calibre PF733 is a joy to look at and use. While retaining the same base as the small seconds version of the Toric, the perpetual calendar function has been integrated on the dial side, and customised to meet the need for this streamlined display of the calendar indications.
In the video we’ve posted at the top of this article, Guido Terreni, CEO of Parmigiani Fleurier, explains everything about the design, conception and challenges about creating this handsome watch, as well as presenting some of the other novelties released during Watches & Wonders 2025, including the Tonda PF Sport Chronograph Ultra-Cermet. What a lovely piece, and so special.
So particular and so clean, without being boring.
