New Versions of the Hermès Arceau L’Heure de la Lune and Arceau Le Temps Voyageur

Intuitive complications interpreted with characteristic Hermès poetry let you track the phases of the moon in both hemispheres and the time in two different zones.

Hermès has a knack for interpreting time in a unique, highly poetical manner. Who can forget the wonderful Arceau Temps Suspendu, with its complication allowing you to suspend time on demand? Just ahead of Watches & Wonders 2025, Hermès releases new versions of two Arceau models: the Arceau L’Heure de la Lune, which tracks the waxing and waning of the Moon in both hemispheres and the Arceau Le Temps Voyageur, tracking the time as you travel around the world.

The elegant asymmetrical Arceau watch was designed by Henri d’Origny in 1978. A nod to the Parisian brand’s origins in 1837 as a producer of harnesses and saddles, the stirrup-shaped lugs of the watch sit well with the Maison that identifies with all things equestrian.

The Arceau L’Heure de la Lune, with its two mobile counters displaying the time and date, made its debut in 2019. Unlike more traditional moon phase displays with rotating moons, the Arceau de la Lune puts time in motion as the counters – one for the time and one for the date – rotate around the dial over 59 days to reveal the current phase of the Moon. To animate this delightful celestial choreography, with simultaneous displays of the moon phases in the Northern and Southern Hemispheres, the automatic H1837 base calibre is fitted with an exclusive Hermès 117-component “L’heure de la lune” module.

Released in three versions – Blue Grey Moon, Vesta and Erg Chech – the  43mm models have two-tone looks with lugs and cases made from different materials, meteorite dials and mother-of-pearl moons with a lunar surface transfer.  All three variants feature a Pegasus (winged horse) motif in the moon corresponding to the Southern Hemisphere. The horse was designed by Dimitri Rybaltchenko for an Hermès silk scarf. The Blue Grey Moon, Vesta and Erg Chech models are sold as a set, limited to 12 pieces. They all come with a matte alligator Hermès strap matching the colour scheme of the watch. Each set retails for EUR 251,000.

Released in 2022, the Arceau Le Temps Voyager is one of the most intuitive (and beautiful) travelling companions, displaying home time on a 24-hour scale in an aperture at noon, local time on a mobile counter and a city ring representing the 24-time zones. The two new references, in 41mm white gold and 38mm rose gold with 78 diamonds set in the bezel, are identical to earlier versions but with different aesthetics. Both timepieces feature the imaginary “Planisphère d’un Monde Équestre” (equestrian planet) map on the dial, dreamed up by artist Jérôme Colliard with landmasses named after equestrian pursuits.

Driven by a sophisticated travelling time module developed exclusively for Hermès by Chronode, the 122-component module fitted on top of the H1837 automatic movement allows the mobile local time disc to glide over the imaginary map. Both models are fitted with Hermès alligator straps. Both the 41mm white gold model and the 38mm rose gold retail for EUR 37,000.
