The Laurent Ferrier Classic Moon Dusk Serie Atelier

Following the inaugural Classic Moon models presented in 2024 by Laurent Ferrier, the new Classic Moon Dusk Série Atelier retains the same combination of annual calendar and moon phase but introduces an entirely different atmosphere. Here, the familiar 40mm Galet-shaped case is crafted in yellow gold, exclusively for the Série Atelier collection, creating the mood for a watch inspired by the final moments of daylight, when taupe, brown and golden shades slowly merge before night takes over.

The Classic case with its pebble-like shape is defined by soft curves, highly polished surfaces and gently flowing lugs. Measuring 40mm in diameter and 12.9mm thick, it retains the proportions of the original Classic Moon. Calendar functions can be adjusted via the signature ball-shaped crown, while discreet correctors are integrated into the case at 10 o’clock for the day and at 8-9 o’clock for the moon phase. Water resistance is 30m.

The opaline gradient dial moves from light taupe in the centre to deep chocolate brown around the periphery, intended to evoke the meeting of sky and earth at dusk. The display is familiar, with day and month windows at noon, a peripheral pointer date, and small seconds at 6 o’clock with an integrated moon phase display.

Roman numerals at 3, 9 and 12 and baton indices are in white. The minutes track is rendered in a lighter taupe. On the dial’s periphery, the vintage-inspired date numerals are printed in pastel yellow, with the “31” highlighted in ochre. The signature Assegai-shaped hour and minutes hands are crafted from white gold and painted white for legibility. The central date hand is made from polished yellow gold, 

The Classic Moon, Laurent Ferrier’s first moon phase complication, is here made from gold-sheen obsidian, a naturally deep-black stone with green, brown, and golden reflections. Its moons and stars are engraved and hand-painted with white Super-LumiNova, then fired at high temperature before further detailing is applied.

The moon bridge is presented in anise-yellow plique-à-jour enamel. This translucent enamel technique, created without a metal backing, allows light to pass through the material, giving the bridge an almost floating appearance above the obsidian sky. The “N” and “S” markings remind the wearer that the moon’s phases appear reversed between the Northern and Southern Hemispheres.

The hand-wound calibre LF126.02 combines an annual calendar with a precision moon phase. The calendar automatically distinguishes between 30- and 31-day months, requiring just one correction per year, on 1 March. The movement delivers an 80-hour power reserve and is visible through the sapphire caseback, with a power-reserve indication on the reverse side. The finishing includes rhodium-plated Côtes de Genève on the bridges, circular graining on the mainplate, polished bevels, interior angles and mirror-polished screw heads. 

The Laurent Ferrier Classic Moon Dusk Série Atelier is worn on a mocha nubuck strap with tone-on-tone Alcantara lining, closed with a yellow-gold pin buckle.
