The Vacheron Constantin Overseas Collection Goes Green & Gold

Four new pink gold references are revealed, sporting sunburst green dials for the first time in the series.

The sunburst green dial is not a new concept for Vacheron Constantin; there are references in the Traditionelle collection featuring the same finish. With that in mind, the new sporty and chic Overseas references, while adding a new adventurous direction, are essentially the same watches we have seen released in previous years, in pink gold and steel, with blue, silver and black coloured dials. The timepieces in question are the Overseas Self-Winding 41mm and the 35mm (with a gem-set bezel), the Overseas Dual Time 41mm and the Overseas Chronograph 42,5mm. Now, though, they come in a delectable pairing of pink, gold and green.

Christian Selmoni, Vacheron Constantin’s Style & Heritage Director, shed light on the decision to incorporate green, stating that the Overseas collection provides an ideal canvas for colour experimentation. He emphasised the desire to expand beyond the traditional palette of white, black, and the iconic Overseas blue. When questioned about the choice to debut the green dials exclusively in pink gold models, Selmoni elucidated that the intense green hue is a captivating complement to the brilliance of gold, ensuring exceptional legibility while enhancing the watch’s overall aesthetic. He expressed optimism that this verdant shade will achieve the same iconic status as the brand’s signature blue.

Let’s quickly review these new references, all of which feature sapphire crystal casebacks and boast a water-resistance of 150m, thanks to a screw-down crown. They also share common specifications, such as a soft-iron casing ring for anti-magnetic protection of the movement. Each timepiece has a pink gold bracelet with half Maltese cross-shaped polished and satin-brushed links, features a quick-release folding clasp, and comes with interchangeable green calfskin and green rubber straps secured by a pin buckle, offering versatility and style options for every occasion.

Overseas Chronograph 42.5mm Ref. 5520V/210R-B966

The 18k 5N pink gold case is 12.67mm thick and, apart from the translucent intense green-lacquered dial with a sunburst satin finish, exhibits a familiar layout, with the snailed sub-dial for the running seconds at 9 o’clock, snailed chronograph 30-minute and 12-hour counters at 3 and 6, and the date window at 4:30. The double minutes/seconds track presents a lighter shade of green, with the flange in velvet finish. The pink gold baton hour indices and hours, minutes, seconds and sub-dials hands are treated in blue Super-LumiNova. The watch, bearing the Poinçon de Genève, is powered by the self-winding manufacture calibre 5200 with 52 hours of autonomy.

Overseas dual time 41mm Ref. 7920V/210R-B965

The pink gold case is 12mm thick and has a screwed-down crown and a quarter-turn screw-lock for the date correction push-piece at 4 o’clock. The green dial showcases the same finishes as the chronograph reference, with the pink gold indices and hands, yet brings a bit of red to distinguish the second time zone hand (set via crown) and the small hand of the AM/PM indicator at 9 o’clock, synchronised with home time. The date sub-dial at 6 o’clock is too synchronised with home time. The Overseas Dual Time is equipped with the self-winding manufacture calibre 5110DT with 60 hours of power reserve; the watch is Poinçon de Genève certified. Overseas self-winding 41mm ref. 4520V/210R-B967

It is the same watch with the date display we reviewed here, now with the translucent, intense green-lacquered, sunburst satin-finished dial featuring a green velvet-finished flange, with the double minutes/seconds track and pink gold hour markers and hours, minutes, seconds hand with blue Super-LumiNova. The movement inside is the self-winding manufacture calibre 5100, complete with the 22k gold Overseas rotor, a component all movements mentioned above share. This calibre, with 60 hours of power reserve, operates at 28,800 vibrations/hour; the timepiece is Poinçon de Genève certified.

Overseas self-winding 35mm ref. 4605V/200R-B969

A smaller watch for smaller wrists, the pink gold case measures 35mm in diameter, 9.33mm thick, and has a bezel set with 90 round-cut diamonds. We offered our first look review of the similar watch yet with a golden dial; the new Overseas reference is no less luxurious, yet with the green dial devout of the double track and featuring the velvet-finished external minutes track and date at 3 o’clock, looks like it will be well received in the ballroom and on a hunting trip, too. The self-winding manufacture calibre 1088/1 with the 22k gold Overseas oscillating weight has 40 hours of power reserve and keeps track of hours, minutes, seconds, and the date. The pink gold hour markers and hours and minutes hands are touched with blue Super-LumiNova, but the seconds hand is not.

All these new Overseas references enter the permanent collection; prices are yet to be confirmed. For more information, please visit Vacheron-Constantin.com.
