The Denim-Blue Patek Philippe Annual Calendar 4946G-001
Less formal than traditional Calatrava-inspired models, yet still unmistakably Patek in execution.
Since the introduction of the annual calendar in 1996, Patek Philippe has owned this clever middle ground between simple calendars and perpetual calendars. The annual calendar complication, requiring just one correction per year, has since appeared in multiple layouts, from the classical reference 5146 to the more modern 5205, while the reference 4946 has established itself as a balanced, contemporary interpretation.
First seen in steel with the ref. 4947A and later in rose gold with the 4946R, this line now expands with the new white gold ref. 4946G-001, a version with a familiar, casual aesthetic. Patek has been exploring blue and denim-inspired textures across collections, from Nautilus and Aquanaut models to recent World Time references, and this watch follows that same direction, elegantly. It’s a modern complication watch with a relaxed edge, very much in tune with current tastes.

The fully polished 38mm white gold Calatrava-style case measures 11.23mm thick and retains the soft lines and a discreet profile. The caseband hosts the usual set of correctors, the sapphire caseback reveals the movement, and water-resistance is 30m.

The dial features a blue-grey “shantung” finish, a double satin-brushed texture evoking silk. For the first time at Patek Philippe, Arabic numerals in luminescent material are used as monobloc elements, while the leaf-shaped hands indicating the time are also filled with lume. The display follows the layout of the 4946: day and month indicated by subdials, positioned between 9–10 and 2–3 o’clock, a date aperture at 6 o’clock, and a moon phase immediately above.

The new Patek Philippe 4946G-001 in white gold is powered by the familiar annual calendar calibre 26-330 S QA LU, a modern evolution of the earlier 324-based movements. This self-winding calibre incorporates improvements such as stop-seconds, enhanced winding efficiency and optimised reliability. It runs at 28,800 vibrations/hour, delivers up to 45 hours of power reserve and bears the Patek Philippe Seal. The moon phase remains precise, deviating by just one day every 122 years.
The watch is worn on a blue-grey calfskin strap with a denim pattern, secured by a white gold pin buckle. Price is to be confirmed, but for reference, the rose gold edition retails for EUR 57,200. For further details, please visit patek.com.
