Chopard entered the luxury integrated sports watch sector in 2019 with its Alpine Eagle. While this might seem like a relatively late contestant, the roots of the Alpine Eagle can be traced to a sporty-chic 1980s model known as the St. Moritz. Marking the Chopard Manufacture’s 30th anniversary, the latest Alpine Eagle 41 XPS is equipped with an automatic micro-rotor movement based on the brand’s first calibre, the L.U.C 1.96 released in 1996. The new Chopard Alpine Eagle 41 XPS continues the path laid down by a model released in 2023, with an extra-thin case and a refined integrated bracelet with a comfort-extension system.

With a name that evokes the majestic alpine scenery of Switzerland and the distinctive striated pattern on the dial suggesting the iris of an eagle’s eye, the Alpine Eagle is now a fully-fledged unisex collection with case sizes ranging from 33mm to 44mm and straightforward time and time-and-date references, flying tourbillons, flyback chronographs and even a high-frequency model.

The 41mm Alpine Eagle XPS has a case height of just 8mm and is crafted in Lucent Steel, a proprietary premium steel alloy that is 50% harder – and more resilient to scratches and abrasion – than standard steel. Made from recycled steel, its exceptional purity results in a bright, white, luminous sheen that resembles palladium or platinum.

The tonneau-shaped case is decorated with vertically brushed surfaces and bright polished chamfers continuing to the bezel, with its eight aligned screws – a design featured on the original St. Moritz. Protected by polished crown guards, the screw-down crown ensures the 100m water-resistance.

The integrated Lucent Steel bracelet, which was reworked in 2025 for the Alpine Eagle 41 XP CS in platinum, has a slimmer profile and enhanced ergonomics. The first five links are tapered while the ones at the clasp are thinner to match the watch’s silhouette. Furthermore, the bracelet is fitted with a comfort-fit extension system (from 2.5mm to 5mm) integrated into the triple-folding clasp.

A new champagne dial colour, known as “Mountain Glow”, evokes the reflections of sunrays on freshly fallen snow and features the distinctive radiating pattern of an eagle’s iris. Using ethical white gold, the hands, including the smaller hand on the snailed small seconds counter at 6 o’clock, the Roman numerals, and the baton hour markers are coated with Super-LumiNova.

A direct evolution of the brand’s first calibre, the L.U.C calibre 96.40-L has a slim profile of just 3.3mm and an off-centred 22k gold high-inertia micro-rotor that supplies energy to the twin stacked barrels, delivering a 65-hour power reserve. The movement is chronometer-certified and complies with Poinçon de Genève finishings.

The Chopard Alpine Eagle 41 XPS new version should retail for approximately CHF 25,600 and will be part of the permanent collection. More information at chopard.com.
