The new Zenith Defy Extreme Diver and Defy Revival Diver Shadow Editions

Bold editions in dark-toned microblasted titanium and flashy yellow accents.

One of the pillars of Zenith’s collection, the Defy is a descendant of late 1960s models known for their sturdy construction and angular design. Marketed as the Time-Safe, the collection included a full-fledged diving version, the Defy Plongeur (Ref. A3648 and its variations), a 600m water-resistant watch equipped with a unidirectional rotating bezel. Following the relaunch of the Defy collection in 2017, two diving models were introduced in 2024: a modern take, the Zenith Defy Extreme Diver, and a vintage-inspired version, the Defy Revival Diver. Just in time for the summer, Zenith unveils new iterations of both models, whose technical look relies on the brand’s shadow treatment (dark microblasted titanium) accented by vivid yellow details.

As mentioned, the new version of the Zenith Defy Extreme Diver uses the microblasted titanium finishing previously seen in various shadow editions, such as the Defy Revival or Chronomaster Revival El Primero A384. The bold, angular design of the 42.5mm case is accented by the contrast between its dark finish and striking yellow details. The model features a black ceramic unidirectional bezel, a screw-in crown and a helium relief valve with a 600m water resistance.

Inside is the automatic El Primero 3620, a non-chronograph version of the legendary Zenith movement beating at 5Hz and boasting 60 hours of power reserve. It comes with 3 straps: a black cordura-effect rubber strap with a folding clasp, a micro-blasted titanium bracelet with a folding clasp, and a black & yellow fabric strap with a pin buckle. These can be swapped in seconds thanks to the smart interchangeability system. The watch retails for EUR 12,900 (versus EUR 11,800 for the regular steel editions).

The second watch offered in this shadow capsule collection, based on the Zenith Defy Revival A3648, applies the same theme to the heritage-inspired version of the model. Measuring 37mm in diameter, it features a unidirectional bezel with a yellow-tinted sapphire insert paired with a black and yellow dial. The water resistance is also rated at 600m.

This solid yet compact watch is powered by the well-known in-house Elite 670 automatic calibre beating at a 4Hz frequency and boasting 50 hours of power reserve. Its micro-blasted titanium bracelet matches the case and is closed by a folding clasp. Price is set at EUR 8,600 (versus EUR 8,000 for the regular steel editions).
