While Panerai strayed on the safe and relatively accessible side of things at Watches and Wonders Geneva 2026, with historically inspired designs, vintage details, and clean displays (see the Luminor PAM01731 and Luminor Destro PAM01732), the brand’s latest release sits clearly on the other end of the spectrum. Big and bold, highly technical, modern looking and more expensive, the new Submersible GMT PAM01495 is a statement piece in classic contemporary Panerai style.

The latest addition to Panerai’s dive watch collection, the Submersible, is said to “deliver uncompromising performance in any adventure”. And it sure comes with an impressive list of specs and functions. Not playing on the vintage trend found in the Luminor collection, the PAM01495 merges the classic design of the brand, including the trademark crown protection, with a contemporary design and strong diving credentials. This large 47mm piece is equipped with sapphire crystals on both sides, a matte blue unidirectional ceramic bezel and is water-resistant to depths of 500m.

The 47mm case is produced using a high-tech 3D-printing technology. Named Titanium DMLS (Direct Metal Laser Sintering), the case is built layer by layer from Grade 5 titanium powder, allowing for the creation of internal cavities within the case, significantly reducing weight while maintaining resistance. Compared to standard titanium constructions, Titanium DMLS is approximately 25% lighter and more than 50% lighter than steel for the same design, while offering high resistance to corrosion.

As for the display, the PAM01495 pursues the same technical spirit with a fully openworked structure. Framing the grid-like pattern is a flange that holds large hour markers in place, paired with bold, openworked luminous hands. The display consists of hours and minutes in the centre, a small seconds with AM-PM indicator at 9 o’clock, a central GMT hand, and a patented polarised date system. Unlike conventional date discs, which are opaque and obscure the mechanics underneath, Panerai’s polarised date remains virtually invisible across the movement, revealing the date exclusively through the aperture at 3 o’clock.

Powering the Submersible GMT PAM01495 is the calibre P.4001/S, an automatic movement wound by a tungsten micro-rotor. An innovative engine, it features a patented GMT spring that allows the local hour hand to jump in one-hour increments, making time adjustments quick and intuitive when travelling – it is thus a true GMT – as well as a second reset system (the seconds hand to return to the zero position upon pulling the crown). The movement boasts 3 days of power reserve, and the level of autonomy can be seen with an indicator on the back.

Paired with a blue rubber strap (additional bi-material strap in black also included), the Submersible GMT PAM01495 will be available exclusively in Panerai boutiques from May 2026, and priced at EUR 49,000 (incl. taxes) or USD 50,300 (excl. taxes). For more details, please visit www.panerai.com.
