The Geneva-based watch week is over… And we can go back to normal. And there have been some pretty cool things released recently, such as these new, vividly coloured Nomos. With a strong focus on contemporary design, the independent German brand with a design studio in Berlin and a manufacture in Glashütte expands its unisex Club Campus collection with lively coloured dials in Deep Pink and Blue Purple. First released in 2017, the Club Campus stands out as one of the most robust Nomos collections with 100m water-resistance, a variety of case sizes to fit a wide range of wrists, in-house mechanical movements and competitive prices that won’t break the bank.
young and fun
Geared towards young men and women, a vibrant splash of funky new colours adds more fun to the dial of the Club Campus. The new Deep Pink and Blue Purple dials join the recently launched Future Orange and Absolute Grey references in the collection. The more playful and carefree spirit of the Club Campus is reflected by the California-style dial with its mix of Arabic and Roman numerals. Treated with white Super-LumiNova, the rhodium-plated hour and minute hands, the numerals and even the indices glow blue in the dark. The small seconds counter, which is slightly recessed, has a neon orange hand that really pops out on the Blue Purple dial and matches the orange minutes on the periphery. The Deep Pink dial sticks to a white minutes track for enhanced legibility.
Offered in two sizes – 36 and 38.5mm – the stainless steel case has a screwed-down caseback ensuring the 100m water-resistance of the case. The caseback can also be engraved (up to 88 characters free of charge), making the Club Campus an ideal candidate to mark milestones in a young person’s life. The case of both models has a slim height of just over 8mm and is fully polished for a more radiant effect. The domed sapphire crystal protecting the dial and the wider bezel and thicker elongated lugs provide the solidity needed for everyday wear and tear.
The Club Campus uses Nomos’ in-house manual-winding Alpha calibre, the brand’s first movement that powers most of its watches. It has a stop-seconds mechanism and a Glashütte three-quarter plate that is decorated with Glashütte ribbing. It runs at a frequency of 21,600vph (3Hz) and delivers 43 hours of power reserve.
The Nomos Club Campus Deep Pink comes on a grey velour leather strap, while the Blue Purple is fitted with a darker, anthracite grey velour strap. The 36mm retails for EUR 1,100 and the 38mm for EUR 1,200.
