Four Bold New Pink Nomos Tetra Models

Extravagance, squared...

| By Brice Goulard | 2 min read |

While Nomos started its life with a collection of discreet, almost minimalist watches inspired by Bauhaus, the brand is now, without a doubt, the most daring company of Glashütte. It isn’t shy to present bright, bold colours that are rarely seen in luxury watches. Coral dial? Yes. Candy pink? That too. But also purple, orange or bright red. The Tetra, a watch that was part of the inaugural quartet of 1992, is not only bold in shape but also often audacious in colour. And the new collection that is presented by Nomos today confirms the trend.

These four new models are based on the most classic version of the not-at-all-classic Tetra watch, with a compact square case and a hand-wound Alpha calibre. What isn’t classic, however, are the choices of colours and the names of these models. This time, they come in a bold “adult colour scheme revolving around the colour pink“, as designer Thomas Höhnel puts it. A colour specialist and interior designer, he has played here with tones, colours and contrast, ranging from nude to aubergine.

The collection revolves around shades of pink. The new Tetra models bear names such as Die Kapriziöse (The Capricious), with a dial in a modern nude tone, a small seconds counter in silver with a yellow hand, or Die Wildentschlossene (The Fiercely Determined), with a rose dial, silver sub-counter and yellow sub-hand. There’s also Die Unerreichbare (The Unattainable) with its silver sunburst dial, pink contrast on the sub-dial and blue sub-hand, and finally Die Fuchsteufelswilde (The Furious One) with its aubergine-toned dial and golden accents.

As for the rest, this collection is classic in specs. The squared case measures 29.5mm x 29.5mm, or 0.000841 square meters if you want to be different, with a slender height of 6.3mm. Made of polished steel, a sapphire crystal protects the dial, and the caseback can be closed or equipped with a sapphire crystal to see the movement. All four models in this new Nomos Tetra collection are worn on straps made of vegan velour in grey, closed by a steel pin buckle.

Inside the case is Nomos’s classic hand-wound calibre Alpha. Also used in the classic Tangente, this movement is an upgrade of the Peseux architecture, which is now produced in-house. Running at a 3Hz frequency and boasting 43h of power reserve, it is nicely finished with thin stripes and blued screws.

The new Nomos Tetra Pink models for 2023 are now available from the brand and priced at USD 2,080 (closed back) or USD 2,320 (open back). For more details, please visit nomos-glashuette.com.

  1. I have always liked Nomos for a variety of reasons. But, these are a little bit too cute.
