Time does not need to be dissected into seconds to be meaningful. This distinctive idea has been essential to MeisterSinger for 25 years. The brand’s single-hand watches deliberately slow the reading of time, changing the focus from precision to perception. To mark its anniversary, MeisterSinger looks back at one of its earlier and most important releases with the new Unitas 1Z Edition, an exclusive piece that reconnects with its roots.

The name is a direct reference. The original Edition 1Z, launched in 2004, was MeisterSinger’s first watch with an enamel dial and already combined this refined aesthetic with a decorated Unitas pocket watch movement. Now, over two decades later, the watch returns in a mature and carefully executed form, limited to 25 pieces.

The case, measuring 40mm in diameter, is new for this enamel edition and proportioned to accommodate the movement. With brushed flanks and polished bezel and lugs, it features a sizeable fluted crown with the brand’s fermata logo on top. The caseback is transparent to showcase the movement and is engraved with a limited-edition number. Water resistance is 50m.

The genuine enamel dial is created through a demanding, multi-day process. Layers of finely ground enamel are applied to a copper base and fired repeatedly at around 800°C. The soft, luminous white surface with depth and permanence is a highlight.

The design is inspired by the historic pocket watches. The signature MeisterSinger typography is retained, with double-digit hour indices in black and a peripheral minute scale marked at five-minute intervals, with 30-minute intervals marked in light blue. An inner ring of blue-coloured numerals adds a subtle graphic layer, reinforcing the brand’s philosophy of reading time in broader, calmer increments: you can see the number of minutes passed as the day progresses. A single, heat-blued steel hand, long, slender and slightly curved, sweeps across the dial, completing the composition.

The watch is powered by the Unitas 6497, a hand-wound calibre originally conceived for pocket watches and now rarely seen in modern wristwatches. For this edition, the bridges, now opened and redesigned, are decorated with Geneva stripes and blued screws, and the movement features a swan-neck regulator for fine adjustment. Operating at 21,600 vibrations/hour and offering a 46-hour power reserve, it combines traditional construction with improved stability, reinforcing the watch’s overall concept.

The MeisterSinger Unitas 1Z Edition is worn on an ice-blue leather strap with a crocodile skin pattern. Priced at EUR 6,990 and limited to 25 pieces, it is aimed at collectors who appreciate MeisterSinger’s approach and craft. For more, visit meistersinger.com.
