Longines Enlarges the Conquest 38mm and 41mm Range with Colours and Rubber Straps

More options, more versatility, more comfort for the brand's everyday watch.

| By Brice Goulard | 3 min read |

First introduced in 1954 (and the first to be trademarked over 70 years ago), the Conquest collection is among the longest lived of the brand with the winged hourglass logo. In recent years, the name Conquest (without a suffix, since there’s also the Conquest Heritage and the HydroConquest) has become synonymous with modern versatility. This became even truer in 2023 when Longines revamped the collection entirely, making it its most versatile offering. Following the first expansion of the range in 2024, Longines enriches the Conquest line even more this year, adding new colours and rubber straps to the 38mm and 41mm models.

Positioned somewhere between elegant and sporty, the current Longines Conquest collection is in line with current trends. A daily oriented watch, which can be worn either at the office (if casual is your dress code) or during the weekend for a bit of action, the Conquest can do it all without much trouble. Classic, well finished, well equipped and reasonably priced – Longines’ prices have gone up in recent years – this collection offers a lot and, after the redesign of 2023, even feels quite attractive. Contemporary, sleek, with just a touch of luxury and mechanics to match.

There’s a lot already existing within the collection, as the time-and-date Conquest is available in 4 sizes (30mm, 34mm, 38mm, and 41mm, to fit all wrists and tastes), in an array of classic colours (black, blue, silver and more) and with extras such as gold accents or stones on the dials. And there’s also a robust automatic chronograph. But this was apparently not enough versatility for the brand, which added several new options to its collection. Besides the launch of the 30mm editions, the more masculine 38mm and 41mm sub-ranges are also expanded.

Despite the 100m water-resistance and a screw-down crown, both dimensions have a relatively sleek profile of 10.90mm. The case has a contemporary edge with its solid shoulders, straight lines and discreet crown guards. The dials are framed by an angled, polished bezel and a sapphire crystal – also found on the caseback. The choice of the diameter, 38mm or 41mm, will depend on your taste, even if we have a certain preference for the smaller version – more elegant without losing its sporty edge.

Another novelty this year for these two sizes of Conquest is the addition of a new rubber strap alongside the classic steel bracelet options. The strap, always colour-matched with the dial – thus green, blue or black – is nicely integrated into the case, thanks to steel end-links to connect it to the case. The strap itself is layered and features a central textured area. It is closed by a double safety steel folding clasp with a push-piece opening mechanism and a micro-adjustment system for extra comfort on the wrist, even during summer days.

As said, these are available in the three classic colours of the collection: blue, green and black. Surprisingly, the silver and champagne dials are exclusively available with a steel bracelet – even though it seems pretty easy to add the steel end-links and a rubber strap afterwards. The dials are identical to previous editions, with a sunray-brushed texture and a snailed inner ring to add some depth.

Both the 38mm and 41mm versions of the Longines Conquest time-and-date are powered by the exclusive Longines calibre L888.5, a movement made by ETA on the 2892 base. Yet, it comes with major upgrades, such as a 3.5Hz frequency and a reworked kinetic chain, ensuring a solid 3-day power reserve. It is also resistant to magnetic fields thanks to its silicon hairspring.

Now available from the brand and retailers, these new rubber-equipped editions of the Longines Conquest are all priced at EUR 2,200. For more details, please visit longines.com.
