The King Seiko Vanac Limited Edition HKF004 in Seiko Blue Dial
A sporty-chic watch that packs several good bits of Seiko's history, now including the classic Seiko Blue shade from the 1960s.
King Seiko, the other higher-end arm of the Group, has had an interesting comeback run since Seiko revived the collection in 2020, bringing back one of its classic higher-end names from the 1960s. This family also introduced the Vanac sub-collection during the 1970s. These were some cool watches that were more colourful, faceted, and much-liked for their integrated-bracelet vibes. The Vanac returned with new models last year, and the same sporty and angular appeal is here again with the new limited-edition King Seiko Vanac HKF004 (note the new reference number system). For this newest member, Seiko goes for a silver-white and blue colour scheme linked to Seiko’s 145th anniversary celebrations and the Seiko Blue colour theme first introduced during the 1960s.
That 1970s Vanac spirit is still very much present here, and the new watch keeps the same case introduced with last year’s Vanac series. The King Seiko Vanac HKF004 features a stainless steel case measuring 41mm in diameter and 14.3mm in thickness, with a short lug-to-lug distance of 45.1mm. Sporty, as expected from a Vanac, the watch features a mix of brushed and polished surfaces throughout the case and bracelet, with the integrated bracelet utilising links with both mirror and brushed finishes.
The dial of the King Seiko Vanac HKF004 is simple in its form and function. You will see the silver-white base done with neat blue details inspired by Seiko Blue: the signature colour theme that is used on several recent anniversary models, from the Presage collection to the Prospex family. The blue ring of the dial breaks the monotony of the white tones, which is great for contrast against the lighter dial surface. Seiko has also chosen blue for the hands, and the indexes receive Lumibrite inserts for low-light visibility.
There are several small Vanac-specific details, including the V-shaped 12 o’clock marker and the matching counterweight on the seconds hand. A horizontal stripe texture across the dial adds another layer of depth without making the watch look overly busy. The caseback also carries a blue King Seiko shield logo inspired by the original 1960s emblem. Water resistance is rated at 100 metres.
Inside is Seiko’s calibre 8L45 automatic movement, the same movement powering the King Seiko Vanac watches released last year. The movement is based on GS 9S65 and runs at 28,800 vibrations/hour. With a 72-hour power reserve, it is rated to an accuracy of +10 to -5 seconds per day. The movement can be seen through the sapphire caseback, with striped finishing visible across the rotor, bridges, and plates.
Limited to 800 pieces, the new King Seiko Vanac HKF004 will be available from July 2026 and is priced at EUR 3,400. For more information, please visit seikowatches.com.
