The 2025 Edition of the Union Glashütte Belisar Chronograph Silvretta Classic

A quarterly orange-and-grey colour scheme livens up this robust German-made chronograph.

Like clockwork, pun very much intended, Union Glashütte expresses its love for vintage motorsports events, and in particular the Silvretta Classic, with a new watch. Partnering with the renowned classic car rally for a good number of years now, each edition is honoured with a special edition of the brand’s chronographs. We’ve seen a copper dial in the Belisar Chronograph last year, and a red-white-and-black dial for the Viro Chronograph the year before, for instance. This year, Union Glashütte once again turns to its sporty and robust Belisar Chronograph, and dresses it in orange and grey, resulting in the aptly named Belisar Chronograph Silvretta Classic 2025.

Relying on the formidable size and robustness of its Belisar Chronograph, we’re dealing with a steel case of 44mm in width and 15.01mm in height with a brushed and polished finish, a sapphire crystal on both sides, and the characteristic crown and pushers on the right-hand side. The top pusher has a black insert with an “ON” logo in silver, the crown shows a similar style but with UG’s logo, and the bottom pusher completes the look with a “REPEAT” logo. On the opposite side, there’s a flush-mounted corrector for the date.

Switching things up for this year, Union Glashütte gives its Belisar Chronograph a beige base dial, enlivened with an orange-and-grey minutes ring divided into quarters. The grey sub-dials have a snailed finish, paired with black PVD-coated hands with Super-LumiNova for the running time, and orange hands for the chronograph indications. Further details include a lovely vintage font for the hour numerals, a relatively large date window, and the printed logo in black, underscribed with “Limitierte Edition” (Limited Edition) in orange.

Under the hood, nothing’s changed from last year’s edition, as the 2025 Silvretta Classic limited edition is still powered by the calibre UNG-27.S1. Based on the inimitable Valjoux 7750, this automatic chronograph comes with a silicon hairspring, beats at a rate of 28,800vph, and has up to 65 hours of power stored in the ‘tank’. The movement can be seen through the back, revealing the signed rotor, Glashütte ribbing on the plates and bridges, blued screws and so on.

The Belisar Chronograph Silvretta Classic 2025 comes with a trio of straps and bracelets. First up is the sportiest of the set, which is a three-link steel bracelet with brushed and polished links, an integrated quick-change system and a folding clasp. Then there’s the grey leather strap, also with quick-change and folding clasp, and finally there’s a grey-and-orange textile NATO-style strap with a pin buckle. The watch is limited to 200 pieces, numbered and engraved on the caseback, and retails for EUR 3,450.

  1. That date with the wrong background colour sticks out like a sore thumb.

  2. Good evening. I differ somewhat. The date size, position, colour and background are intentional. Together they offer clarity and aid legibility.

  3. Is this brand worth investing in to start my first collection. And do they hold value pretty good ? Other than that great looking watches. Thx from US
