The New NOMOS Watch Club 36 – By the Fans, For the Fans

A watch specially designed for the NOMOS Watch Club reflecting the ideas of the Club’s members.

“It’s a NOMOS watch by the fans, for the fans,” explains Christopher Waluga, Founder & Executive Editor of the NOMOS Watch Club (NMC). Founded in 2017, this website has become the meeting place for fans of the young and fresh Glashütte-based brand. Acknowledged by the brand, it was time for this community to get its reward. And it’s taking shape in a handsome, bright new edition of the NOMOS Club. Decorated with specific colour codes, the NOMOS Watch Club 36 is the result of a collaborative process with members of the NWC.

This new NOMOS Watch Club 36 is a unique project designed and developed collectively with all participating NWC members. It’s a watch designed by the fans and produced by NOMOS for its fans. And more than that, it’s not just a Club or a Club Campus. It’s a new model named Watch Club 36. As the brand explains, “we do not create brand-new models for special editions as a rule. But some rules are made to be broken“. NOMOS recognises the importance of this Club and has produced a watch bearing the title of their community.

The watch is based on the existing Club model and has a compact 36mm case made of polished steel, with a relatively solid bezel, rather long lugs (L2L is 47.5mm) and a thin 8.2mm height. Nevertheless, the case comes with a very decent 100m water-resistance and is framed by two sapphire crystals, including one showing the movement. The crown is decorated with the NWC logo.

What’s important in this NOMOS Watch Club 36 is the dial. The base is the colour of sketch paper complemented by the Club’s favourite olive green tone, found on the Arabic numerals and the small seconds. The numerals are framed in red, the same colour used for the minute track and the seconds hand for another pop of colour and more contrast. The dial and its colours were inspired by the work of Bauhaus master Annie Albers, a textile artist and abstractionist. Complementing this subtle combination of shades, the Club’s watch comes on a grey 18mm woven textile strap.

Inside the case is another treat: the NOMOS Alpha calibre. However, here it is fitted with the brand’s in-house Swing System with the signature tempered blue balance spring. The rest of the movement is based on the Peseux architecture and refined internally with a 43h power reserve and typical German decoration – Glashütte ribbings, blued screws…

The NOMOS Watch Club 36 reference 703.S4 is available as a special edition, but it can only be ordered for a certain period of time (until June 12th). It is available to members of the NOMOS Watch Club (you can register here) and retails for EUR 1,100 – a very fair price considering that a standard Club watch with sapphire caseback but without the Swing System on its Alpha calibre retails for EUR 1,340… And that’s NOMOS’ gift to its fans.

  1. notice how in the very top photo the ends of the strap look as if they are touching the case – in reality as everyone knows Nomos is known for massively long lugs and a huge gap. Very misleading attempt to cover it up

  2. @Jay Bee The textile strap helps to reduce the gap between the end of the lugs and the case. The textile strap is very close to the case. It is preferable to mount a textile strap on a nomos club rather than a leather strap

  3. Dear Brice and Monochrome team, thank you so much for covering our unique special edition! I’m super glad and proud how many people like the watch that we have designed together with the whole NWC community and NOMOS. Cheers, Chris

@Jay Bee Yes the lugs of the Club are long, but this is simply a picture where you see the strap behind the watch through the gap and you can always check on much more pictures and even videos of other Club and Club Campus models in the NOMOS store
