The slim integrated sports watch from Sweden gets three natural stone dials, bringing a more refined, individual character to the permanent collection.
The Manhattan has become one of Maen’s defining collections, offering the angular aesthetics of 1970s integrated sports watches and increasingly refined execution at accessible prices. Building on the success of last year’s Manhattan 37 Ultra-Thin, the Swedish brand is introducing natural stone dials to its permanent collection. Mechanically identical to the existing hand-wound model, the new series features three carefully selected ornamental stones: Black Onyx, Golden Swan and Snowflake Obsidian.
The stainless steel case remains unchanged, measuring 37mm in diameter, 47.4mm lug-to-lug and 7.1mm thick. The reduction in thickness compared to the automatic Manhattan was made possible by adopting a hand-wound movement, allowing the watch to sit exceptionally close to the wrist. Alternating brushed and polished surfaces define the faceted case and octagonal bezel. With sapphire crystals front and back, the watch is 100m water-resistant.
The integrated bracelet also carries over unchanged. Made from stainless steel with brushed surfaces and polished chamfers, it tapers towards a concealed butterfly clasp. Short links improve comfort. The bracelet remains attached to the case via four screws inserted through the caseback, one of the Manhattan’s distinctive construction details.
Creating a very different look from stamped textured dials, the new collection introduces three natural stones. Black Onyx offers a deep, glossy black surface with remarkable purity. Golden Swan provides warm tones and organic veining. The most interesting option is Snowflake Obsidian, a volcanic glass with naturally occurring pale inclusions scattered across its dark background. To showcase the stones, Maen has simplified the dial design. Applied hour markers are gone, along with the small seconds, and a newly designed pencil-style handset replaces the broader hands of previous models.
The watches are powered by the La Joux-Perret D101, which operates at 21,600 vibrations/hour and provides a 50-hour power reserve. Visible through the sapphire caseback, the movement features blued screws and Côtes de Genève.
The new Maen Manhattan 37 Ultra-Thin Stone Dial Collection joins the permanent collection; the price is to be confirmed.
