The Manhattan series is an important collection for Maen, being an integrated-bracelet sports-watch design series with an increasingly refined execution at an accessible price. Last year, the Swedish brand with Dutch roots introduced the Manhattan 37 Ultra Thin, a slimmer and more elegant interpretation of its popular collection, powered by a hand-wound movement. Now, Maen launches the new Manhattan 37 Ultra Thin MBE.001, a boutique-exclusive edition with an attractive blue fumé dial.

The new watch remains identical to the regular-production Manhattan 37 Ultra Thin in specs and construction. The stainless steel case measures 37mm in diameter, 47.4mm lug-to-lug and 7.1mm thick, retaining the sleek proportions that made the model stand out in the increasingly crowded integrated-bracelet segment. The octagonal bezel, alternating brushed and polished surfaces, and integrated bracelet continue to provide the watch with its 1970s-inspired character. Water resistance is 100m.

Replacing the textured Tuscan-style dials of the standard collection, the MBE.001 introduces a blue Côtes de Genève fumé dial. Bright and vibrant at the centre before gradually darkening towards the periphery, the dial contributes to a more sophisticated appearance, and the watch feels slightly dressier and more contemporary than the textured editions.

The display is clean and balanced, with large applied hour indices, central hours and minutes hands with luminous inserts. For this edition, there’s no small seconds indication, and as with the rest of the Ultra Thin collection, there is no date window. The watch is powered by the hand-wound La Joux-Perret D101 calibre (alternative to the Peseux 7001), visible through the sapphire caseback. The movement features traditional decorative finishes and allows the Manhattan Ultra Thin to remain a slender 7.1mm high while still offering a 50-hour autonomy.

The Maen Manhattan 37 Ultra Thin MBE.001 is available exclusively through the brand’s boutique channels and is delivered on the integrated stainless steel bracelet with concealed deployant clasp. The M37 black FKM strap is available at an extra cost (EUR 149). The price with a bracelet is EUR 1,499. For more information, please visit Maen’s website.
