The Hanhart Thermosphere Limited Edition, a Purpose-Built Watch Inspired by Firefighting Operations
From underwater timing to emergency response, a new mission for the Aquasphere.
German watchmaker Hanhart presents the new Thermosphere Limited Edition, a model created in partnership with the Baden-Württemberg State Firefighters Association. Based on the robust Aquasphere diving watch, the Thermosphere adapts the concept to an entirely different environment, replacing underwater timing with a system inspired by breathing apparatus monitors used in firefighting operations. Limited to 112 pieces, a reference to the European emergency number for fire and rescue, the Thermosphere is a functional instrument designed around visibility, durability and straightforward operation.
The watch retains the Aquasphere’s 42mm stainless steel case, with brushed and polished surfaces, measuring 12.95mm in height with a 49mm lug-to-lug. Water-resistance remains an impressive 300m, supported by a screw-down fluted crown with protective guards, a helium escape valve and a screwed caseback with the Baden-Württemberg Firefighters Association emblem.
The fluted bidirectional (for this model) bezel features a blue ceramic insert with Super-LumiNova markings. Instead of the usual diving scale, the bezel features a series of luminous triangular symbols corresponding to operational checkpoints during firefighter deployments with breathing apparatus. Firefighters can align the bezel with the minute hand at the beginning of a mission and monitor elapsed time and remaining air supply.
The dark blue dial follows the same approach. Large indices and bold, skeletonised hands and indices are coated with Super-LumiNova for maximum readability. Accents in yellow, red and blue reference the visuals of emergency services, with the number “112” positioned at 12 o’clock below the dotted triangle, with the official Baden-Württemberg Firefighters Association emblem placed above the 6 o’clock mark. Thermosphere adds a date function, with an aperture at 3 o’clock.
The watch is powered by either a Sellita SW200-1 or a Soprod P024 automatic movement (ETA 2824-2 alternatives), depending on production availability. Both offer central hours, minutes, hacking seconds and date, with an operational frequency of 28,800 vibrations/hour and approximately 38 hours of power reserve. As with all Hanhart watches, each movement is individually regulated in Germany to the brand’s in-house specification of 0 to +8 seconds per day.
The Thermosphere is worn on a blue elastic hook strap, designed for rapid adjustment and compatibility with protective clothing. A stainless steel bracelet is also available. The Hanhart Thermosphere Limited Edition is available from June 2026, limited to 112 pieces, and priced at EUR 1,640 (including VAT).
