The Hamilton Khaki Aviation Pilot Auto, Now Available in Mid-Size 39mm
With now three case sizes available, Hamilton Pilot's series broadens its appeal.
Hamilton, a brand renowned for its connection with Hollywood and military forces, and its reputation for producing durable, reliable watches, expanded its popular Khaki Aviation series earlier this year with the modern Pilot line. Now offered in a versatile 39mm case size, new references bridge the gap between the existing, slightly oversized 42mm and compact 36mm Khaki Aviation Pilot Auto models. They retain the signature legible dial design and strong performance features; here’s a quick look at the newly added timepieces.
The Hamilton Khaki Aviation Pilot 39mm watches feature a stainless steel case, measuring 11.6mm in thickness and offering a comfortable 100m of water resistance. The case has a brushed finish with subtle polished accents, such as on the screw-down crown and the lower edge of the bezel. The flat sapphire crystal tops the watch and is treated with a double anti-reflective coating for optimal clarity.
The new 39mm Khaki Aviation Pilot comes in three matte dial colours – midnight blue, military green, or black – each featuring a distinctive sloping inner flange reserved for the minutes/seconds track. Small hour numerals are printed on the recessed central part of the dial. In contrast, bold double-digit minute numerals (05-55) are displayed on a thick chapter ring, segmented by broad rectangular markers at 3, 6, and 9 o’clock, and an orientation triangle at 12 o’clock. The markers at cardinal positions, along with the nickeled sword-shaped openworked hour and minute hands and the tip of the central arrow-shaped seconds hand, are treated with high-grade Super-LumiNova X1 for enhanced legibility in low light. The date function is omitted to preserve the balanced layout, just like the 36mm but unlike the 42mm with a day-date feature.
The new Khaki Aviation Pilot 39mm watches are powered by the H-10 automatic movement, built with 25 jewels and employing a Nivachron balance spring for improved characteristics. Based on an ETA architecture, also known as the Powermatic 80, this movement includes a hacking seconds feature and offers an impressive 80-hour power reserve, setting it apart from the classic ETA 2824. The movement is visible through the sapphire crystal caseback, showcasing Hamilton’s distinctive H-shaped logo and cut-out rotor design.
The black dial version of the Khaki Aviation Pilot Auto 39mm has either a brown leather strap or a stainless steel bracelet. The blue dial is exclusively paired with a stainless steel bracelet, while the green dial is matched with a brown leather strap. Both the straps and bracelets feature quick-release spring bars for easy swapping. Prices are EUR 1,075 for models with a strap and EUR 1,155 for the bracelet version.

Is there a reason why the lug-to-lug dimensions are rarely mentioned? I would love to know what it is to have a better idea about the wearing experience of the watch 🙂
@Milan – we try to include the L2L measurement as often as possible. However, in this case, we haven’t seen the watch and the measurement wasn’t given by Hamilton at the time of publishing.
I would get the hour and jumbo sized minute hand reversed…
I love it! Definitley will buy. are they available now?
@Sajdžija – yes these are available on the brand’s website
