The New Hamilton Khaki Field Auto The Odyssey Limited Edition

Christopher Nolan and Hamilton reunite once again, this time with a bronze field watch to celebrate Homer's legendary hero rather than for a prop destined for the silver screen.

With more than 500 film and television appearances, Hamilton, the “watchmaker of filmmakers“, is creating bespoke watches for directors, supplying existing models to define characters and developing timepieces that are part of the film’s narrative or extend beyond the screen. Christopher Nolan has been one of Hamilton’s creative partners, with memorable collaborations such as Interstellar (2014, personal favourite), Tenet (2020), and Oppenheimer (2023). Now, ahead of the release of Universal Pictures’ The Odyssey (starring Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson and Lupita Nyong’o, with Zendaya and Charlize Theron), the partnership takes an unexpected turn.

The new Khaki Field Auto The Odyssey Limited Edition was conceived as a collectable inspired by the mythology, symbols and visuals of Nolan’s latest IMAX-shot action epic, set during the Bronze Age, long before mechanical timekeeping existed, so unlike previous collaborations, it never appears on screen. The watch builds on the familiar 42mm Khaki Field Automatic, available in steel or titanium, a modern interpretation of Hamilton’s ever-popular military-inspired field watch. Here, however, almost every visual element has been reimagined to reflect the mythological world of Odysseus.

The stainless or titanium case gives way to warm bronze, an obvious yet very fitting choice considering the period in which the story happens, echoing the armour and weapons carried by the film’s warriors, not to mention a unique patina it develops over time, acquiring its own character as it ages. Measuring 42mm in diameter and 10.9mm thick, the case retains comfortable proportions, topped with a domed sapphire crystal featuring double AR coating. Underlining the project’s collaborative nature, Hamilton opted for a lightweight titanium caseback engraved with Odysseus’ helmet and Christopher Nolan’s signature. Water-resistance remains at 100m.

The black vertically brushed dial is where the cinematic references reign. The textured surface reproduces the pattern found on Odysseus’ helmet; the bronze-coloured sword-shaped hands reference the hero’s legendary weapon; and the seconds hand looks like a spear. The applied marker at 12 o’clock mimics a rivet from the sword’s scabbard. The hour markers, present in the pre-production sketches, did not make it onto the dial, but the decorative frieze did. Super-LumiNova X1 on the time hands provides night-time legibility, preserving the Khaki Field’s practical character despite its thematic execution.

The watch is powered by Hamilton’s well-proven H-10 automatic movement. Based on the ETA C07.611 (perhaps better known as the Powermatic 80), this calibre is equipped with a Nivachron balance spring for improved resistance to magnetic fields and temperature variations. Running at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations/hour, it stores an 80-hour power reserve.

The new Hamilton Khaki Field Auto The Odyssey Limited Edition is worn on a brown grained leather strap with prominent central stitching, closed with a titanium pin buckle. Every owner receives a replica of Athena’s pin, the talisman given to Odysseus by Penelope in the film, presented with a watch in a specially designed box. Production is limited to 2,112 pieces, a number chosen for its symbolic connection to Homer’s epic, in which the number 12 appears repeatedly throughout the narrative. We let you discover the magic of the number by watching the film upon its release on July 17, 2026. Price is CHF 1,195.
