Chopard Celebrates 25 Years of the Quattro with a Refreshed & Compact L.U.C Quattro

The ultra-thin, 3.7mm Calibre 98.01-L, certified by both the Poinçon de Genève and COSC, was the second developed by the Chopard manufacture and followed the groundbreaking Calibre L.U.C 96.01-L, which was created in collaboration with Michel Parmigiani and laid the foundation for future movement development. The manually wound 98.01-L featured Chopard’s so-called Quattro technology: a four-barrel system (stacked in two pairs) that delivered an impressive 216-hour (nine-day) power reserve.

Since its debut in a 38mm L.U.C. Quattro Ref. 16/1863, this mechanism has evolved to support numerous complications, and the most recent evolution, the L.U.C Quattro Spirit 25, with a jumping-hour movement. This year, Chopard is marking the 25th anniversary of the Quattro by unveiling a refined new edition of the watch. This latest L.U.C Quattro iteration features a compact case, reshaped to align with the contemporary aesthetic codes of the L.U.C collection, and a new dial configuration.

Recently, Chopard has refined its L.U.C collection, introducing sleeker designs, as seen in the L.U.C Lunar One with its streamlined basin-style case and more legible dial. The new L.U.C Quattro follows this path with a slimmer, more elegant profile—now 39mm in diameter and just 10.4mm thick. Its bassine-shaped case, crafted from ethical rose gold, narrows at the base while expanding into a domed, polished bezel. The vertical satin-brushed case sides provide a striking contrast, while a subtly domed sapphire crystal seamlessly follows the curvature of the bezel, lending the watch a harmonious, well-balanced look.

The dial, crafted from brass, features a deep blue frosted texture achieved through galvanic treatment. At 6 o’clock, a snailed subdial integrates both the running seconds and a hand-indicated date. Rose gold is used for the distinctive herringbone-style hour markers, Dauphine fusée hands, and the small seconds and date hands. A key design update is the relocation of the power reserve indicator—previously positioned at 12 o’clock—to the movement side, now visible through the sapphire crystal caseback.

The L.U.C 98.09-L calibre powers this timepiece, a manually wound movement that upholds Chopard’s legacy of chronometric excellence and fine craftsmanship. Thanks to its four-barrel architecture, it maintains a remarkable nine-day power reserve while earning both COSC certification and the prestigious Geneva Seal.

The watch is presented on a hand-sewn blue alligator leather strap with tone-on-tone stitching. Alternatively, it can be paired with a brown calfskin strap featuring beige stitching. Both options are secured with a rose gold pin buckle, ensuring an elegant finishing touch to this sleek timepiece. The price for this Chopard Boutique exclusive is EUR 41,300.
