Tudor Black Bay Fifty-Eight Navy Blue BB58

Blue is one of the most versatile colours and many of its tonalities work well on watch dials. The blue watch dial trend has consolidated over the past years and gives us a good reason to put together a selection of recently launched watches with distinctively elegant blue dials.

TUDOR BLACK BAY FIFTY-EIGHT NAVY BLUE

We thought Tudor was not introducing new models this year but we were wrong. Blue is an important colour for the brand and it was time for the Black Bay Fifty-Eight, the smaller and thinner version of Tudor’s iconic dive watch to be presented in blue, replacing the warm colours of the black model with a blue, domed matte dial and a blue anodized aluminium bezel insert. Besides that, all the technical elements are retained. The 39mm diameter case with brushed surfaces and polished bevels, screw-down crown with the rose logo and domed sapphire crystal is water-resistant to 200m. Inside is the manufacture calibre MT5402 with a 70h power reserve and a silicon balance spring.

GLASHÜTTE ORIGINAL SIXTIES CHRONOGRAPH ANNUAL EDITION 2020

It has become something of a tradition at Glashutte Original to spice up its vintage-style Sixties collection with lively colours and textured dials.  For 2020, Glashütte Original cools the temperature and goes for a subtle glacier blue tone that might just be our favourite to date. The German maker used the 39mm time-only Sixties model and, for the first time, a 42mm Sixties Chronograph. Housed in a stainless steel case, this Chronograph with the glacier blue dial looks absolutely amazing. Inside is the in-house automatic calibre 39-34 beating at 28,800 and offering an autonomy of 40 hours.

Bulgari Octo Finissimo satin-polished blue dial

This year Bvlgari has reinvigorated its ultra-thin Octo Finissimo with new contrasting satin/polished finishes and several technical updates. These include a beefed-up water-resistance of 100m thanks to a screw-down crown and a slightly thicker case. Most importantly, it also gets rid of the monochromatic look and offers dials that contrast with the case material, including this elegant blue model.

BREGUET CLASSIQUE 7137 MOONPHASE & POWER RESERVE

The Classique 7137 is one of the finest examples of Breguet’s enduring capacity to maintain an understated yet distinctive style. This year, the brand translates this elegant design into a contemporary and unapologetically elegant white gold and blue dial combination, a new visual expression for the brand. More casual, more modern, a bit bolder too but with the usual restraint you’d expect from Breguet. The highly legible guilloché dial is made from a solid gold plate and combines several patterns that make all essential indications clear. Inside the 39mm white gold case ticks the ultra-thin automatic calibre 502.3 with its original off-centred rotor.
