The Venezianico Redentore Utopia II Enhances Italian Watchmaking with the Refined V5001 Calibre
The brand’s “Made in Italy” horological journey continues, with the new watch offering precision, artisanal guilloché, and elevated finishing.
Founded by brothers Alberto and Alessandro Morelli in 2017, the Venice-based brand was initially launched as Meccaniche Veneziane. The company got noticed with the Nereide diver and the Redentore dress line before rebranding in 2022 to strengthen its identity and link to Venetian craftsmanship. The Redentore Utopia II, after the 2024 Redentore Utopia, is the next step in Venezianico’s effort to develop a complete “Made in Italy” watch, combining local manufacturing with traditional decorative techniques, as it draws from the city’s Renaissance architecture and design culture. The new watch is fitted with the V5001 movement, an evolution of the brand’s first in-house calibre, and features a guilloché dial made in collaboration with Italian artisans.
The Redentore Utopia II retains the dimensions of the first Utopia, and comes in a 38mm stainless steel case, 44.2mm lug-to-lug, and 8.9mm in thickness, with the short lugs that curve slightly to follow the wrist. The case is made from 316L steel and combines polished and brushed surfaces. Sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating protects the dial, while a sapphire exhibition caseback, secured with six screws, reveals the movement. The overall appearance is balanced and contemporary. Water resistance is 30m.
The Marea dial pattern of the Utopia II mimics the tidal movement of the Venetian lagoon and creates a layered texture that interacts with light. The dial is created with Atelier Renzetti, one of the few remaining workshops specialising in traditional guilloché. Each dial is engraved by hand by Linda Renzetti using an 1850s rose engine, a manual lathe capable of cutting microscopic lines through consistent, rhythmic pressure.
Two versions are presented: the Redentore Utopia II Alpha with a gold-galvanic dial, and the Redentore Utopia II Beta with a graphite-galvanic dial. Both variants feature polished metal indices along the thin outer ring, slightly overhanging for a three-dimensional look, and central hands for hours, minutes, and seconds.
The watch is powered by calibre V5001, the latest evolution of Venezianico’s Italian-made movement, developed in partnership with OISA 1937 under the technical guidance of Fausto Berizzi and Andrea Menegazzo. Designed and produced in Italy, the hand-wound calibre retains the slim 3.5mm architecture of its predecessor (V5000) but brings enhancements in decoration and refinement.
The bridges and mainplate now have a 24k gold galvanic treatment, keep the radial Côtes de Genève and fine perlage, visible where the variable-inertia copper–beryllium balance wheel is, and boasts new double-snailing gear wheels. The balance wheel (by Atokalpa) features four masselottes (weights), a double-anchored balance bridge, and KIF Elastor shock protection. The movement operates at 25,200 vibrations/hour, offers a 60-hour power reserve (60 ore riserva di carica), and is adjusted to a pleasant accuracy of ±3 seconds per day.
The Utopia II is worn on a handmade Italian leather strap, produced by regional artisans and matched to each dial tone, grained calf for the Alpha and saffiano for the Beta, closed by a polished stainless steel pin buckle engraved with the Venezianico cross.
The Venezianico Redentore Utopia II is a limited release, available for pre-order for 72 hours starting January 15, 2026. The first 100 watches will ship immediately, with subsequent deliveries expected in May 2026. The price is EUR 4,500. For more information, please visit venezianico.com.
