The new Venezianico Redentore Levius, Italian Power and Titanium Case

Founded by brothers Alberto and Alessandro Morelli in 2017, Venezianico is a Venice-based brand, originally known as Meccaniche Veneziane. In recent years, it has increasingly focused on bringing more of its watch production and craftsmanship to Italy. The new Redentore Levius is one good example of the effort, combining a lightweight titanium case with a hand-engraved guilloché dial and the Italian-made V5000 calibre.

The name Levius comes from the Latin levis, meaning light, gentle or delicate, and the watch certainly takes that idea seriously. The Grade 5 titanium case weighs just 12.9g on its own, while the complete watch head weighs 40g and the watch fitted with its leather strap comes in at just 48g. Those specs look good on paper, but the difference becomes much more obvious once the watch is on the wrist.

The Redentore Levius measures 38mm in diameter, 8.9mm thick, and 44.2mm lug-to-lug, retaining the series’ compact proportions, with the relatively short lugs providing it with the look of a dress watch. The case uses Grade 5 titanium throughout, with a mix of brushed and polished surfaces; the bezel is polished. The case is topped with a sapphire crystal, treated with an anti-reflective coating. Water resistance is 30m.

Linda Renzetti, Riccardo Renzetti’s daughter, who produced the dial for the first Redentore Utopia, created the Levius dial. It is entirely hand-engraved using a 19th-century rose engine. The pattern is called Zefiro, inspired by Zephyrus, the gentle west wind of classical mythology. The pattern translates its movement into flowing lines. As the light moves across the blue coloured surface, the guilloché changes character, making the relatively simple display with short polished indices very interesting. Time is indicated by the faceted polished hands, with the central needle-like running seconds.

The Levius is powered by the V5000, Venezianico’s Italian-made hand-wound calibre manufactured by OISA and designed by Fausto Berizzi and Andrea Menegazzo. The movement represents the latest stage of a project to bring the watch’s mechanical heart back to Italy. The manually wound V5000 operates at 25,200 vibrations/hour, offers 60 hours of autonomy and features a variable-inertia copper–beryllium balance with four masselottes by Atokalpa. The decoration includes radial Côtes de Genève, mirror-polished anglage, hand-applied micro-perlage, with nickel-treated bridges. The movement is on display through the sapphire caseback.

The watch is worn on a genuine leather strap, handcrafted in Italy, closed with a Grade 5 titanium buckle. The Venezianico Redentore Levius will be offered through a five-day pre-order window beginning September 14 at 15:00 GMT+2, with the first 100 numbered pieces available for immediate delivery. The next 100 are scheduled within one month, with subsequent orders delivered within five months.
