The new Patek Philippe Calatrava Alarme 24-hour Reference 5322G
A modern style Calatrava with a 24-hour alarm.
Among the many novelties presented by Patek Philippe on the occasion of Watches and Wonders 2026, the Geneva manufacture expands its range of complications useful for everyday life with the elegant yet modern Calatrava 5322G reference, featuring a 24-hour alarm. Available in green or blue, its design pairs a dial with a black-gradient rim and a grainy texture and a caseband decorated with a hobnail pattern, just like we’ve seen recently with the Annual Calendar Travel Time 5326G.
The new reference 5322G replaces the reference 5520 in the collection. Launched in 2019, the Patek Philippe 5520 Alarm Travel Time was a dual-time wristwatch featuring a mechanical alarm function alongside the Travel Time complication. This quintessential travel watch was distinguished by a case with four pusher/crown tubes, resulting in a bold design.
The 5322G is slightly simpler, focusing on the alarm only. Its design is less complex, less polarizing and resolutely modern with a Calatrava case with a hobnail pattern and a grainy gradient dial. Available in green or blue, the grainy gradient dial of the new 5322G-001 and 5322G-010 is obviously derived from the style inaugurated in 2022 with the references 5226 and 5326. The white gold applied numerals and syringe-style hour and minute hands feature luminescent material. The seconds and date hands are painted in white.
Like for the 5520, the alarm function indications are arranged in the upper half of the dial. The programmed alarm time is displayed in a double aperture beneath the 12 o’clock position. Directly underneath it is the round aperture with the day/night indicator for the alarm. The bell-shaped window indicates its status: white for alarm ON and black for alarm OFF.
Crafted from 18K white gold, the 5322G features a 41mm diameter and a single push piece at 2 o’clock. It stands out with the Clous de Paris (hobnail) pattern that adorns the entire circumference of the caseband. To accommodate this continuous guilloché motif, the case employs a unique construction where the lugs are an integral part of the case back, rather than being soldered to the case middle.
The crown at 4 o’clock allows winding and setting the watch. Position 1, against the case, to wind the movement’s barrel in one direction and the alarm in the other. Position 2, crown pulled out one step, to set the alarm in either direction. Position 3, crown pulled out two steps, to set the time. The pusher at 2 o’clock also features a hobnail pattern and allows for programming or stopping the alarm.
The new automatic calibre AL 30-660 SC is derived from the AL 30-660 SC FUS movement but without the Travel Time function. Despite its 524 parts, it is extremely thin at 6.6mm. Visible through the sapphire case back, its 21k gold micro rotor helps to limit the height of the whole while offering the comfort of automatic winding.
The user-friendly alarm mechanism is fully secured. The alarm barrel must be fully wound to program an alarm (10 crown turns). The off-mode is thus activated automatically after each alarm. The alarm can be interrupted at any time.
A rare feat for a mechanical alarm, it strikes on a traditional gong inside the case like for a minute repeater, rather than resonating through the case itself. This construction allows for a clear, resonant chime while preserving the integrity and acoustics of the movement. Additionally, the regulator (again, just like for a minute repeater) allows for a regular cadence, with 2.5 strikes per second over some 90 strikes.
The elegant and practical Patek Philippe 5322G is delivered with two straps: a blue or green calfskin strap with fabric pattern and contrasting beige stitching, and a beige calfskin strap with nubuck finish. The patented three-fold deployant buckle enhances both safety and comfort, allowing straps to be swapped easily and swiftly, tool-free. Price is set at CHF 225,000.
