The New Czapek of Watches & Wonders 2024, Including the Promenade Collection
The new Promenade Collection and two new Antarctique editions will be officially presented tomorrow in Geneva… Well, you saw it here first.
Independent watchmaker Czapek whets our appetite ahead of Watches & Wonders 2024, pre-releasing the handsome Antarctique Mount Erebus, the first gold version of its successful luxury sports watch. But there is more coming our way from the creative brand: two cool new versions of the Antarctique and, more importantly, a new collection, Promenade.
The New Czapek Promenade Collection
While it is still a relatively young brand, Czapek has already forged its identity with four collections: the Quai des Bergues (2015), Place Vendôme (2017), Faubourg de Cracovie (2018) and Antarctique (2020). Beyond the success of the Antarctique integrated sports watch, it is time for the launch of a new collection.
As Xavier de Roquemaurel, the brand’s CEO, explains. “The sports watch is a modern classic and will always be with us. But we feel that the genre is very close to reaching the limit of creativity. We love to play with colour, techniques, and materials, so Promenade is not just a timekeeping instrument but also a canvas for creative expression.”
The new collection comes in a versatile 38mm diameter and features design cues from the Quai des Bergues, such as the recessed sandblasted case profile, the distinctive crown protectors, or the slim, rounded bezel. A key criterion for Czapek was to keep a slim profile, hence the natural choice for the brand’s beautiful in-house SXH5 micro-rotor calibre.
Two main dial options are offered. Crafted in collaboration with enamel dial specialist Donzé Cadran, the blue ‘Goutte d’Eau’ (water drop) is released in a limited edition of 100 pieces. Its Grand Feu enamel surface creates an optical illusion of a capillary wave radiating from the small seconds. Available either in champagne or blue, the Guilloché Soleil dial is crafted with Metalem. It features a modern guilloché geometric pattern reminiscent of sunrays emanating from the small seconds.
The Czapek Promenade is worn on a nubuck leather strap matching the colour of the dial and fitted with a pin buckle. Price is set at CHF 18,800 (excl. taxes) for the Guilloché Soleil and CHF 20,000 (excl. taxes) for the Goutte d’Eau limited edition.
Quick Facts: 38mm x 10.8mm – steel case – water-resistant to 50m – grand feu enamel or guilloché dial – automatic in-house SXH5 calibre – 4Hz frequency – 60-hour power reserve – nubuck leather strap and pin buckle – from CHF 18,800
Antarctique Green Meteor
Watches & Wonders 2024 also offers the opportunity for Czapek to introduce two cool, stand-out editions of the Antarctique sports watch. The Antarctique Green Meteor is a limited edition of 100 pieces featuring a Gibeon meteorite dial in an unusual green hue. As a “natural” material, the distinctive pattern of a meteorite is always different, making each dial unique and different. No surprise underneath the dial with the brand’s micro-rotor SXH5 calibre in a version without the date indication.
Quick Facts: 40.5mm x 10.6mm – steel case – water-resistant to 120m – green Gibeon meteorite dial – automatic in-house SXH5 calibre – 4Hz frequency – 60-hour power reserve – steel bracelet and folding buckle – CHF 25,000 (excl. taxes) – limited edition of 100 pieces
Antarctique Afterglow Purple
Last but not least, the Antarctique Afterglow adds a dash of purple to the brand’s integrated luxury sports watch, setting a new tone for its atypical stamped trapezoid three-dimensional dial motif.
Quick Facts: 40.5mm x 10.6mm – steel case – water-resistant to 120m – purple “Stairway to Eternity” stamped flinqué dial – automatic in-house SXH5 calibre – 4Hz frequency – 60-hour power reserve – steel bracelet and folding buckle – CHF 23,000 (excl. taxes)
