In the days before two of the biggest watch shows of the year, the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie (SIHH) and Geneva Time Exhibition (GTE), many brands are already releasing some teasers of their new watches. Ladoire is teasing us with a beautiful campaign featuring the Black Widow.
The new Ladoire Black Widow has not been shown to the world yet, but the advertisement campaign has already started and it looks very intriguing! And Ladoire mailed me some photos of the movement and again… very intriguing! There are not many watchmakers giving the design of the movement’s mainplate and bridges so much attention. And that’s just one of the strong points of Ladoire.
The Black Widow features the new caliber Calvet/02. For it’s power, caliber Calvet/02 is like its predecessor equipped with a micro rotor. Another similarity is the dual time zone display, a complication that’s beyond nice-to-have in this era of globalization. After my visit to Ladoire in August of last year, I wrote about the Ladoire Roller Guardian Time (RGT) and its movement. Just look at the almost architectural desinged mainplate and W-shaped GMT bridge.
The new Black widow’s time display is also regulator style with its patented HMS Planetary ® display complication, divided into three zones with fixed indicators mounted on ceramic micro ball bearings. The movement is rather large with a mainplate of 39.50mm x 29.50mm. The entire movement is 10.95mm thick. Some more specs:
- Balance with screws for adjustment
- 38 Jewels
- Optimised gear-train toothing profile
- Frequency 18,800 vph (2.5 Hz)
- Power reserve is 52 hours
And… the new Ladoire Black Widow will have a lower price level of 59,000 euro. Something not many collectors will mind 😉
