The new Speake Marin Ripples Gold
A new high-end edition of Speake Marin’s sporty-chic watch, in an appealing combination of colours.

The Ripples Collection was presented as Speake-Marin‘s vision of a luxury sports watch with an integrated design, blending the brand’s signature aesthetic with a modern case and a distinctive dial, standing apart with its unique visual identity and refined details. When Speake-Marin celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2022, it marked the occasion with a special Ripples edition featuring a champagne-coloured dial crafted from solid gold. Meanwhile, the redesigned La City case remained in stainless steel, leaving some to wonder what a Ripples timepiece would look like in an entirely precious metal construction. Now, just ahead of Watches and Wonders 2025 – set to begin in two weeks – gold case enters the Ripples collection for the first time since its debut three years ago.
The new Ripples Gold is housed in the signature rounded-square La City case, measuring 40.3mm in diameter and 9.2mm in thickness, made of 18k rose gold. The right side of the case extends slightly outward to embrace the knurled, signed crown, while the bezel rests atop the central caseband with a polished bevel. Brushed top surfaces contrast elegantly with polished sections, enhancing the watch’s sophisticated appeal. A sapphire crystal protects both the front and the caseback, and the polished centre link connects the the strap.
The dial, finished in a rich Gold Brown hue, is built on a rhodium-plated brass base with a Zapon coating. It features the collection’s signature rippled pattern – 12 deep, rounded, satin-finished grooves. Speake-Marin’s signature spade-and-whip hands in rose gold indicate the hours and minutes. At the same time, a rose gold-plated small seconds subdial with a sunray finish is positioned in the upper right corner, subtly disrupting the rippled motif. Polished gold-plated baton indices encircle the dial, standing against the warm background. The minutes track is marked with glossy brown varnish dots, with a double marker at 12 o’clock, echoing the twin hour indices at the top.
At the heart of the Ripples Gold is Speake-Marin’s proprietary SMA03-T calibre, developed in collaboration with Le Cercle des Horlogers. This automatic movement features a micro-rotor, comprises 144 parts (including 31 jewels), and operates at 28,800 vibrations per hour, delivering a 52-hour power reserve when fully wound. Visible through the sapphire caseback, the SMA03-T showcases traditional high-end finishing, including 3mm Côtes de Genève, hand-polished bevels, and gold-plated engravings. The tungsten micro-rotor, adorned with an alternating silver and gold-plated laser-engraved pattern, adds a striking visual element.
Completing the timepiece is a Mocha calf leather strap, embossed with a denim motif and finished with tone-on-tone stitching. It is secured with a folding buckle in rose gold and titanium. The Speake-Marin Ripples Gold is priced at CHF 29,900 (excl. taxes). For more details, visit speake-marin.com.

If the micro-rotor isn’t actually made of gold, why go halfway with a gold-toned finish?
