The Seiko 5 Sports x Pepsi SSK047 and SRPL99… The Watches That You Can Now Rightfully Call Pepsi

Not just a nickname anymore... Seiko has stolen the Pepsi moniker from Rolex...

If it were only for the watches themselves, this would have been average news… But what properly got the ice-cool factor is that for once, we’ll be able to officially name watches with a red and blue bezel: Pepsi! You know the idea, we, watch enthusiasts, love to give nicknames to emblematic watches, something particularly true when it comes to Rolex and Seiko. But for once, the Pepsi moniker won’t be linked to a BLRO Rolex GMT-Master II. Today, Seiko, with its accessible 5 Sports collection, has just dropped a new collab, and it has some serious fizz, as we’re looking at official Pepsi watches, the new SSK047 and SRPL99 limited editions.

This could have been on the same level as the Rolex x Domino’s Pizza watches… Which, in my books (sorry if some feel offended), are quite lame and far from appealing. I know these are, somehow, part of the watch culture, but they were nothing else than watches given to franchisees and employees of the American fast-food chain. What Seiko just dropped has, as far as I’m concerned, much more impact. The name Pepsi has long been associated with watches, without the soda brand having anything to do with it. It’s just that watch enthusiasts love to give monikers to their watches. And for the Pepsi nickname, it first and foremost refers to the Rolex GMT-Master with red and blue bezel and, by extension, most watches with an identical colour scheme. Seiko is no stranger to this style, which has been used in some PADI-themed models, for instance, or some iconic SKX models of the past.

But now, Seiko makes it official and teams up with the American soda brand to deliver genuine Pepsi watches, blue and red models that you can now officially call like that. Sorry, Rolex, the Japanese got it first… And in any case, this moniker doesn’t belong to Rolex alone. The official page on Seiko’s website talks about heritage and Pepsi having “shaped global culture for over 120 years.” What matters is that having the name Pepsi officially associated with a watch (a pair of watches in this instance) with a blue and red bezel is kind of cool. Period.

An actual Pepsi watch… This is the promise of this new Seiko 5 Sports x Pepsi collab, the first of its kind with the American soda giant. What we’re talking about are two limited edition models (each to 7,000 pieces) that are based on classic models from the Seiko 5 Sports collection, with classic colours of the soda brand – red and blue, of course, mixed with white or black, depending on whether you prefer it vintage-styled or modern, without sugar.

The first of the two Seiko 5 Sports x Pepsi, the SSK047, is based on the GMT collection launched in 2022. This means a 42.5mm case in steel with a black hard coating. The whole watch is inspired by the modern Pepsi can with the updated logo and features – of course – a blue and red bezel. The latter is here bidirectional and used to display an additional time zone. It’s made of transparent Hardlex (like the main crystal) with the scale and colours printed underneath. The dial is classic for most of it, with large luminous markers outlined in blue and a 24h hand in red for the GMT (office-like) function. The modern Pepsi logo has been added at 6 o’clock.

The Seiko 5 Sports x Pepsi SSK047 is powered by the automatic calibre 4R34, which is equipped with a GMT function, and it’s worn on a Pepsi-branded silicone strap (it is the first SKX-series GMT to feature a silicone strap). The logo is also printed on the see-through caseback.

The second Seiko x Pepsi watch, the SRPL99, is based on the smaller version of the Seiko 5 Sports collection, the 38mm SKX series that was launched in 2023. There, we have a more retro-styled watch with a non-coated steel case measuring a compact 38mm x 44mm case, with 100m water-resistance. It is topped by a unidirectional rotating bezel with blue-and-red metallic insert, and it is worn on a 3-link brushed steel bracelet.

To match the 1990s style of Pepsi, with the blue, red and white colour as well as the circular logo, the SRPL99 is equipped with a silvery-white dial, blue outlined luminous hour markers and hands. The vintage Pepsi logo is visible at 6, as well as over the transparent caseback, which locks in the automatic calibre 4R36, a tried-and-tested movement with day-date function, 3Hz frequency and 41h power reserve.

Both watches are delivered in fun Pepsi-can-inspired containers rather than traditional boxes, adding to the collector’s appeal of the collaboration. Available from September 2025, the Seiko 5 Sports x Pepsi SSK047 and SRPL99 are respectively priced at EUR 540 and EUR 380. For more details, please visit seikowatches.com.

  1. Why would anyone want to advertise a soft drink on their wrist? Terrible co-branding idea…would have considered the purchase w/out the Pepsi logo/branding, etc…

  2. Sorry, I don’t like paying money to advertise companies. It is kind of ridiculous .
Other than that, the watch looks great

  3. @rob and @jey you have apparently no idea about the history behind that watch. Watch geeks love the smart move to make watch!
