Rado Drops a Trio of Summer-Toned DiaStar Original Skeleton
Summer colours reinforce the impact of a watch that was already a statement.
Rado continues to ride the renewed popularity of its DiaStar Original collection and its skeleton version, and launches three colourful limited editions that add a fresh seasonal character to one of the brand’s most recognisable designs. Following the skeletonised DiaStar models introduced in recent years, including the original steel version and the striking gold-coloured edition unveiled in 2025, these new references add rich blue, green and red colourways to the series distinctive combination of futuristic design, materials and openworked mechanics.
First launched in 1962, the DiaStar was marketed as the world’s first scratch-resistant watch, instantly recognisable for its oval “helmet-shaped” case and unconventional styling. The bold design remains intact, now updated with contemporary materials and a skeletonised movement.
All three new DiaStar Original Skeleton Limited Editions share the same distinctive shape and compact proportions, measuring 38mm wide, 45mm long and 11.9mm thick. The characteristic convex bezel is crafted from Ceramos, Rado’s proprietary composite material that combines the hardness of ceramic with the shine of metal. The blue and red models feature a polished Ceramos bezel with a radially brushed surface, paired with stainless steel middle cases and casebacks. The green edition takes a warmer approach, with a yellow-gold-coloured PVD-coated Ceramos bezel and matching PVD-coated steel components.
A faceted sapphire crystal, one of the signature elements of the DiaStar design, rises above the dial, while a sapphire display back reveals the movement. Water-resistance is 100m.
The new Rado DiaStar Original Skeleton trio distinguishes itself through bold colours that frame the skeletonised calibre beneath. Each watch retains the floating index design and the moving anchor logo. The blue model features a blue dial ring and a matching rubber strap, with rhodium-coloured hands and floating indices highlighted by yellow Super-LumiNova. The green edition pairs a green dial and strap with gold-coloured hands and markers with red lume. The third version offers a red dial and strap, with rhodium-coloured hands and indices filled with green Super-LumiNova.
Powering all three models is the automatic calibre R808. Based on the same ETA architecture used in previous DiaStar Skeleton editions, the movement features 25 jewels, a Nivachron hairspring, and provides an 80-hour power reserve. The calibre operates at 21,600 vibrations/hour and is adjusted beyond standard requirements, with regulation performed in up to five positions to enhance accuracy.
Each edition is fitted with a colour-matched rubber strap equipped with Rado’s EasyClip system for quick strap changes, and a stainless steel pin buckle that matches the case finish.
The new Rado DiaStar Original Skeleton Summer Editions are each limited to 555 pieces, with the limitation engraved on the caseback. Prices are set at EUR 2,500 for the blue and red editions, while the green model with gold-coloured PVD treatment retails for EUR 2,750. For more information, please consult rado.com.
