Panerai Unveils the new Submersible PAM01756
The first Submersible in a 44mm case featuring a metal bracelet
While the Luminor and Radiomir are the two most emblematic collections of Panerai, both solidly rooted in the brand’s heritage and modelled after historical models, there’s a third collection that has increased its presence in recent years: the Submersible. The brand’s vision of a proper dive watch, equipped with all the necessary features you’ll need underwater (including the rotating bezel that neither the Luminor nor the Radiomir have), this collection has also become the most modern expression of Panerai’s style. For the first time, the 44mm size gets a metal bracelet, giving it an even sportier and contemporary design, with the new Submersible PAM01756.
This new Submersible is familiar on many levels, relying on a recipe that we’ve come to expect for several years now. It starts with the collection’s classic oversized case, in 44mm, made of stainless steel and fully brushed for a more instrument-like look. Robust case architecture, 500m water resistance, unidirectional rotating bezel with a blue ceramic insert and a 60-minute scale for immersion time calculation and the emblematic crown lever system… It has it all. Classic Panerai, but without the vintage design cues you’ll find in recent Luminor models. A contemporary tool for underwater exploration.
As for the dial, the Submersible PAM01756 keeps things focused, with a black base with a sunray-brushed texture, applied markers and openworked hands generously filled with white Super-LumiNova and a small seconds positioned at 9 o’clock. This strong legibility day and night is reinforced by the choice of having a no-date display, a reference to the roots of the brand, as models produced before 1998 did not display the date, as their function was primarily linked to timekeeping and mission use for the Italian Navy.
Under the solid back is the calibre P.980, an automatic movement produced by ValFleurier (Richemont’s shared production facility). Boasting 3 days of power reserve on a single barrel, it runs at a modern frequency of 4Hz and features a traversing balance bridge for enhanced stability. Compared to previous versions of this movement (the P.900), it features a stop-seconds function allowing for precise time setting.
Importantly, this new PAM01756 is the first 44mm Submersible to be equipped with a steel bracelet, with a shape that recalls the form of the crown protective bridge. Closed by a folding clasp, it also features, for the first time in the Submersible line, a quick length adjustment system to extend by 2mm on each side.
Released as part of the permanent collection, the Panerai Submersible PAM01756 retails for EUR 12,800. For more details, please consult www.panerai.com.

Surprised to know Panerai has never produced a 44 mm submersible with metal bracelet before. Anyway I guess this Panerai’s (too late) answer for Rolex’s Sea Dweller (sans date.)
Having looked at Richemont’s last fiscal report I’m actually wondering why the group is keeping a losing sub-brand and not selling it off.
