Two limited-edition Luminor models mark the centenary of Panerai's historic Florence boutique.
In 2026, Panerai celebrates 100 years of its boutique in Piazza San Giovanni, Florence. Originally opened in 1926 as “Orologeria Svizzera”, the boutique became an important part of the Panerai family’s history, a place where watches were sold but also assembled and repaired. The preserved location, reopened to the public in 2001 following the renovation, remains closely connected to the brand’s Florentine identity. To celebrate the anniversary, Panerai introduces the Luminor Firenze 8 Giorni PAM01734 and PAM01794, two limited editions inspired by a rare Ref. 6152/1 prototype from the 1960s.
Both watches transform the historical prototype’s substantial 47mm Luminor case into a more wearable 44mm form, retaining its cushion-shaped middle case, here polished, with a brushed crown-protecting bridge. The two models differ in materials. The PAM01734 uses Panerai’s Platinumtech, a proprietary platinum alloy with 95% pure platinum treated to increase hardness, while the PAM01794 opts for polished steel. Both feature a slightly curved, domed sapphire crystal inspired by the Perspex crystals used on 1960s Luminor watches.
The steel PAM01794 is the more rugged of the pair, with 300m water resistance and a closed, brushed steel caseback engraved with the Florence boutique. The Platinumtech PAM01734 instead features an open sapphire caseback and is water-resistant to 100m.
The familiar sandwich dials come with circular brushing and feature cut-out numerals (at cardinal positions and indices). The markers and pencil hands are treated with green Super-LumiNova. The “Panerai Firenze” inscription appears below the 12 o’clock numeral on both watches, referencing the historic prototype. The PAM01734 receives a green dial with gold-effect hands to complement its precious-metal case. The PAM01794 combines a black dial with blue-finished hands, a particularly attractive detail.
Both watches are powered by the P.5000 manufacture calibre, a hand-wound movement with two barrels and an impressive 8-day, or 192-hour, power reserve. The movement is built with 113 components and operates at 21,600 vibrations/hour. Both watches come with Tuscan calfskin straps embossed with the Florentine lily, highlighting the brand’s connection to the city. The PAM01734 is worn on a black leather strap, with an additional green rubber strap supplied, while the PAM01794 pairs dark-brown leather with a black rubber strap. The mahogany presentation boxes boast a metal plaque depicting the historic entrance of the Florence boutique.
The Luminor Firenze 8 Giorni Platinumtech PAM01734 is limited to 100 pieces and priced at EUR 55,000; the steel PAM01794 is limited to 1,000 pieces and priced at EUR 10,700. Both will be available in Panerai boutiques from September 2026. For more information, please visit panerai.com.
