Mido Belluna Royal Gent Collection 2020

Mido’s Belluna collection was launched back in 2008 offering affordable dress watches inspired by London’s Royal Albert Hall, one of the most legendary British concert venues. Dial patterns are pulled from the venue’s famous glass dome and the structure’s tiered levels and Victorian-style influence the overall design. The new Belluna Royal Gent line adds a cushion case from Mido’s past in two flavours and five dial variants for an elegant and even slightly rebellious vibe, all with accessible prices.

Whatever colour you choose, the dial will feature a guilloché-style sunray pattern that’s seen in the Belluna Sunray line as well. Dial colours are anthracite, blue, rhodium and silver, and two dials feature rose gold hands and indices – anthracite and rhodium – while the others have silver hands and indices. The redesigned dauphine-shaped hour and minute hands are faceted and diamond cut, with applied faceted indices and a flat tapering seconds hand. Unlike the older Sunray models with a day/date complication, the Belluna dials have a simple, bevelled date window at 3 o’clock. The dials do not feature luminescence.

The 316L polished stainless steel cases are 41mm in diameter and 10.14mm in height, and an anthracite dial variant features a rose gold PVD coating (with matching gold hands and indices). A polished bezel surrounds the domed sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating on both sides and an exhibition window on the caseback displays the decorated Swiss automatic. The back is secured with four screws and follows the cushion case aesthetic. A slightly oversized knurled crown is easy to wind and set the time, and the watches are water-resistant to 50 metres.

Powering the collection is the Mido Calibre 80, based on the workhorse ETA C07.611 (also known as the Powermatic). It’s an élaboré grade movement (adjusted in three positions) with 25 jewels, 21,600vph (3Hz) and an 80-hour power reserve. Functions include central hours, minutes, hacking seconds and date. The rotor is decorated with Côtes de Genève and Mido’s logo.

Strap options include a 20mm black leather two-piece with a faux crocodile pattern and pin buckle, or a stainless steel bracelet with folding clasp – available on the silver and anthracite dials (with silver hands and indices only). As mentioned earlier, prices are accessible and start at CHF 710 for the polished steel models on the leather strap (blue and rhodium dials), CHF 790 for the models on the steel bracelet and CHF 820 for the PVD gold-plated model with anthracite dial. The Mido Belluna Royal Gent collection is available now on Mido’s website and at official retailers.

  1. I like these designs and would also like to see future models with the big date movement Mido has used in other lines.

  2. Nice looking watches, well specified. Same old problem not enough dealers. My closest one is in Scotland. A long way to go to see one.
