MeisterSinger Perigraph Edition Planet Earth

In what is a celebratory year for MeisterSinger, as celebrating 2 decades of existence, the German watchmaking brand presents a unique collaboration. Partnering with the WWF, the World Wide Fund for Nature, it has created a limited edition of its date watch dedicated to planet earth. The MeisterSinger Perigraph Edition Planet Earth is the latest model in what is the company’s 20th anniversary collection, one that stands out from all others for very obvious reasons.

MeisterSinger has impressed us so far with several solid new watches presented in 2021. Just look at the Bell Hora (here and here), a very affordable chiming hour watch, or the robust Unomat, the brand’s first sports watch. And now, as the final act in the celebratory year, MeisterSinger launches the Edition Planet Earth.

Your eye is immediately drawn towards the large, photorealistic image of planet earth in the middle of the dial. The detailed depiction of our home planet looks crisp and bright and shows the continents of Europe, Asia, and Africa, and all of the surrounding oceans – it’s called “Edition Planet Earth” for a good reason… This centrepiece is surrounded by a yet black outer dial, featuring the familiar MeisterSinger style minute track, with each line representing a 5-minute increment. Using the classic Perigraph as a base, the Edition Planet Earth has a rotating black date disc with a red pointer on the inside. An elongated, single hand in white revolves around the dial to indicate the time.

The 43mm wide stainless steel case is topped with a sapphire crystal. Underneath, and visible through the sapphire crystal caseback, ticks a Sellita SW-400 automatic movement. This reliable calibre runs at a frequency of 28,800vph and can store up to 38 hours of power reserve. The back of the watch also reveals the famous WWF panda-bear logo, printed on the inside of the crystal.

The MeisterSinger Perigraph Edition Planet Earth comes on a vegan leather-look strap in black, and in environmentally friendly packaging, something that will be introduced for all collections later on in the year. The watch retails for EUR 1,990 and is limited to 500 pieces. Of every watch sold, MeisterSinger will donate EUR 200 to the WWF in support of the organization’s programs.
