Louis Erard’s Integrated Sports Watch, the 2340, now in Mauve and Forest
A softer mauve or a deeper forest green changes the personality of LE's integrated sports watch without altering its sharp foundation.
Last year, Louis Erard entered the integrated sports watch segment with the 2340 collection, a sharply designed and relatively accessible proposition built in titanium and steel, with a nicely executed integrated bracelet. Named after the postal code of Le Noirmont, the brand’s home in the Swiss Jura, the 2340 marked a departure from the regulator watches and numerous artistic collaborations that have recently been associated with Louis Erard. Now, the collection expands with two new dial colours, meet the 2340 Mauve and 2340 Forest.
The new 2340 references retain the compact 40mm cushion-shaped case measuring 8.95mm thick and feature a construction combining a satin-finished titanium case middle with polished stainless steel elements for the bezel, lugs, crown, and caseback. The polished gadroons integrated into the flanks continue to define the watch’s design, extending toward the first bracelet links and softening the transition between case and bracelet. The proportions remain one of the model’s strengths. Lightweight titanium keeps the watch comfortable to wear, while the thin calibre allows Louis Erard to maintain a restrained profile for an integrated sports watch. A sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating protects the dial, and the caseback is solid. Water-resistance is 50m.
The new Mauve version introduces a soft purple lacquered surface with a stamped oblong “pill” texture, a visual connection to the polished centre links of the bracelet. The Forest edition offers a deep green lacquered dial featuring horizontal stamped lines. Compared to the more rounded and softer appearance of the Mauve model, the Forest seems more graphic, spotlighting the sharper side of the 2340 design.
Both watches retain the familiar details, including the transferred white minute track with Louis Erard lettering, the applied satin-finished plaque at 3 o’clock engraved with the LE logo, and rhodium-plated diamond-cut indices filled with blue-emitting Super-LumiNova. The rhodium-plated hands, with satin-brushed surfaces and polished bevels, also receive SLN-C1 treatment. As before, the absence of a date window keeps the dial symmetrical, with the central seconds hand to indicate the watch is running.
The new Louis Erard 2340 references are powered by the Sellita SW300-1 automatic movement (an alternative to the ETA 2892-2), in élaboré grade. The slim 3.6mm calibre operates at 28,800 vibrations/hour and delivers approximately 56 hours of power reserve.
The 2340 integrated bracelet is composed of 92 components. It combines satin-finished titanium outer links with polished steel centre links, tapering from 28mm to 20mm. It is closed with a concealed butterfly clasp, a nice solution to keep the flow of the overall design.
The new Louis Erard 2340 Mauve and 2340 Forest are now part of the permanent collection; both references are priced at CHF 3,250 before taxes. More information at louiserard.com.
