The Longines Conquest Heritage Central Power Reserve Now in Light Blue
A fresh light-blue dial adds new character to one of Longines' distinctive historical complications.
Longines revived the Conquest Heritage Central Power Reserve in 2024, bringing back one of the brand’s most original mechanical displays, a patented solution first introduced in 1959 that shows the remaining energy stored in the mainspring with rotating discs. Released to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Conquest collection, the model successfully combined faithful vintage styling with modern mechanics. Two years later, Longines gave the model a fresh light-blue opaline dial.

It’s worth remembering that the Conquest was the first Longines collection to have its name officially registered with the Swiss Federal Intellectual Property Office, marking the beginning of one of the brand’s longest-running families (since 1954). It quickly became known for blending everyday practicality and refined styling. With the 1959 Conquest ref. 9028, Longines devised a rotating-disc display positioned at the centre of the dial. This solution remained exclusive to the brand and has become one of its most recognisable historical signatures.
The latest edition retains many of the specs introduced with last year’s re-edition. The stainless steel case measures 38mm in diameter, 12.3mm thick and spans a comfortable 45.6mm lug-to-lug. Alternating satin-brushed and polished surfaces, the signed crown with the winged hourglass logo, the box-shaped sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on both sides and the screw-down sapphire caseback complete the package. Water-resistance is 50m, adequate for daily wear.
The new light-blue opaline dial is the attraction. Soft and contemporary, the colour gives the vintage-inspired design a much lighter, relaxed appearance. Applied faceted rhodium-plated hour markers point to the centre; luminous skyscraper-style hands indicate time, and the familiar trapezoid-framed date window remains at 12 o’clock. At the centre, naturally, sits the watch’s main feature. The power reserve display consists of two rotating discs that work together to indicate the remaining autonomy. As the watch is wound or worn, the outer graduated disc rotates until maximum tension is reached. From there, both discs gradually move together as the mainspring unwinds, allowing the black baton-shaped indicator to point towards the remaining hours of power reserve. The display is marked to reflect the 72-hour autonomy (the dot between 64 and 0 represents 72), and is constantly in motion.
The watch is powered by the exclusive Longines calibre L896.5, an automatic movement developed by ETA specifically for the brand. Operating at 25,200 vibrations/hour, it incorporates a silicon balance spring for improved resistance to magnetism and is visible through the sapphire caseback.
Longines offers the new model in two configurations. One is worn on a stainless steel bracelet featuring a double-folding clasp with an integrated micro-adjustment system for improved comfort. The other comes with a grey alligator leather strap closed with a heritage-inspired pin buckle.
Evolving through colour, with a contemporary freshness added to an already distinctive design, the Conquest Heritage Central Power Reserve is one of the most interesting revivals in the collection. For those looking beyond conventional dress watches, it remains one of the most elegant and technically unusual offerings in its segment. The version on a leather strap is priced at EUR 4,250, while the version on a steel bracelet retails for EUR 4,400. For more details, please visit longines.com.

I like pretty much everything about it…except the date window being there at all. I’ll grant that the location makes sense, and the matching ring color is very good here. I’d prefer to lose the frame, but even more I’d prefer it just wasn’t there, leaving a series of rings as the motif.
Well, i decided to slow down a little bit on buying watches, this new color is now putting me in troubles, this watch is absolutely lovely ?
