The new Kiwame Tokyo Kubo Momiji, in Autumnal Red
Inspired by the deepening colours of Japanese autumn, the new Kubo Momiji offers a rich red lacquer dial with a raised maple-leaf motif.
Founded in 2025, Kiwame Tokyo is a young Japanese watchmaking brand based in Asakusa. It focuses on classically styled, well-finished watches with accessible pricing and design details rooted in Japanese culture. Following the inaugural Kurotsuki and Usuki models, the Kubo collection, launched earlier this year, features an off-centred, recessed small-seconds display at 4:30, and now comes in a new, attractive colour.
Kiwame Tokyo adds a new watch to its compact Kubo series. Inspired by Koimomiji, a traditional Japanese colour evoking the deep red of autumn foliage, the new model comes with a glossy red lacquer dial with a raised maple leaf inside the small-seconds subdial.
The Kubo stainless steel case measures 37mm in diameter and 9.3mm thick, rising to 10.7mm with the domed sapphire crystal. Its 45mm lug-to-lug keeps the proportions compact. The vertically brushed flat bezel introduces a slightly more utilitarian, field-watch character. Sapphire crystal with an inner anti-reflective coating protects the dial, while the caseback is solid steel. Water resistance is 30m.
The Kiwame Tokyo Kubo Momiji red lacquered dial retains the collection’s applied Arabic numerals, finished with fine vertical brushing to contrast with the lacquer’s gloss. The small-seconds hand features the brand’s distinctive counterweight, inspired by the roofline of Asakusa’s Kaminarimon gate. Luminous hours and minutes hands, together with diamond-shaped luminous markers at all twelve positions, provide visibility in low-light conditions. A maple leaf that appears to emerge from the recessed running seconds subdial at 4:30.
The Momiji is powered by the Miyota 82S5 automatic movement, beating at 21,600 vibrations/hour and offering approximately 42 hours of power reserve. The watch is worn on an Italian genuine calf leather strap fitted with quick-release spring bars.
Pre-orders for the Kubo Momiji open on November 17, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. Japan Standard Time, one watch per person. Also, the brand is renewing pre-orders for the existing Kubo series models. Deliveries are expected to start in January 2027. The price is USD 630, excluding taxes. More information at kiwametokyo.com.
