You would expect an oversized sports watch on Aquaman's wrist... Wrong!
Actor Jason Momoa is best known to audiences worldwide for playing the superhero Aquaman in the DC universe films Aquaman and Justice League, and the character of Khal Drogo in the first season of HBO’s Game of Thrones. So in terms of watches, what could fit the wrist of this big guy…?
Momoa is over 6 feet tall (1.82m) and weighs approximately 100 kilograms, so in terms of watches, you would expect him to be wearing XXL timepieces such as an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore, a Hublot Big Bang or a 44mm Panerai Luminor… But you’d be wrong.
Surprisingly, he wears a timepiece which is the polar opposite of the abovementioned watches, from the famed jewellery Maison and watchmaker Cartier. I knew that Momoa wears a Cartier, but I had been unsuccessful in identifying the watch until now. After browsing through recent photos, I was able to make a positive identification. Momoa attended the 2019/20 Fendi Couture Fall/Winter Collection in Rome on July 4th and he was wearing the watch in question.
Momoa wears a 2012 Cartier Tank Louis Cartier XL Power Reserve with a 39mm case in 18k rose gold. It has a brown guilloché dial with matching rose gold-coloured Roman numerals. The 3-day date window is at 12 o’clock and at the 6 o’clock position is the power reserve indicator. Completing the look of the watch is the knurled crown with Cartier’s signature blue cabochon. Powering the timepiece is the manually wound Calibre 9753 MC with a power reserve of 40 hours.
The Louis Cartier fits Momoa’s wrist quite nicely and goes to show that the classic design of the Cartier Tank is timeless and not out of place on gentlemen with large wrists.

UGHHH… Is that his wife’s hair scrunchies (had to look up spelling) on his wrist too! Horrible just like that the shirt. He looks like he is wearing a costume… Sad.
